Reastablishing Steinway Model D-274 if it is improved

{{helpme}} Recentely the page Steinway Model D-274's content was removed. I am writing to ask if I could reastablish this page, after some major editing and including referances ect.

The content must be notable. Yes, you can add it by editing more and adding references. Please see below to understand the topics in a nutshell.

Reliable References/Reliable Sources

Information on wikipedia should be based on a reliable published source and the articles should be based on third party resources i.e. not created by me or you, but by someone else. The material must be based on some information published by a famous publisher. The sources must be related to the topic. If an article has no reliable sources in it, it must not be in wikipedia. The word “published” mainly means by text, audio, pictures and videos should be published as well as broadcasted on a larger public. So, the youtube videos should have been viewed by as least 500 people. It is better to check if an archived copy of that video exists. You tube videos have archives, no need to worry. Wikipedia’s sources must mainly rely on scholarly articles. The following points can be noted. (1)The sources are reviewed an not out-dated. (2) There must be not other contradicting sources. Another best kinds of sources are newspapers. In India, best for citing, is the Times Of India. Other newspapers also apply. Self published sources are suggested not to be used but can be used at some extent when you are an expert and the source has nothing to do with you and doesn’t show anything personal about you. It is the best to use tertiary sources like Encyclopedia, textbooks, etc. except for wikipedia. Secondary sources can also be used like websites, etc. Blogs are not accepted. Please use {{fact}} when you what to insert ^{[Citation Needed]}.

Notability

It is generally possible for an article to stay on wikipedia if it has enough sources and independent of subject. E.g. XYZ is a dog specie which doesn’t have enough sources. Then XYZ can be included in the Dog’s article itself under proper context. There should be a significant coverage about the topic, not that you wrote just one line about it! It should have reliable sources (explained above). It should be independent of the subject. E.g. Mango seed structure doesn’t need an extra article page. It can be merged to Mango. The article must not contain definitions, your own thoughts, advertisements, extreme external links, memorials, blogs, manuals, guides, and unexpected “going to happen” events. Please don’t add content as a news report. Articles not having notability are deleted. Once we cross the notability stage of editing an article, we will move on to developing an article. --Srinivas 10:08, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Anyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, of course, but in light of the background to this, I advise caution; it might be a good idea to first make the 'proposed article' in your own user space, and ask others to check it before making it live.

Therefore, I suggest you make it as User:Pianoplonkers/Steinway Model D-274. That is not in the live area, so you can make that page, work on it, and try to make an appropriate Wikipedia article.

In order to have an article on Wikipedia, the subject must meet the notability guidelines. The simplest, most important one is the general notability guideline, which says a subject needs significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. That carefully-worded phrase explains quite a lot;

Significant coverage - such as, a number of news articles about the article topic - not passing mentions

Reliable sources - well, this is defined in some detail in WP:RS, but the essence of it is - something that is generally trusted - such as the BBC, CNN, The New York Times. Books are good, too. Blog-sites are rarely reliable.

Independent - we don't use primary sources, such as the persons own website, or their publishers/labels website, or anything like that. We avoid press-releases. We want secondary coverage - other people independently writing about the subject.

The previous incarnation of the article lacked such independent sources. That is why I suggest you get the article checked over before moving it to the live area. To get someone to check it, or uf you have questions, please ask for help - either with a further 'helpme', or talk to us live, with this or this.  Chzz  ►  10:10, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Royal 'we'?

Hello there.

That article, User:Pianoplonkers/Steinway Model D-274, seems to be shaping up well; I'm glad to see that you're trying to find good sources for the info. Great work; give us a shout when you want it checking over.

I have another issue that needs discussion; I'm a bit concerned that this account is being used by more than one person, based on your use of the word 'We' on your user page.

Wikipedia accounts must be individual - each person takes responsibility for their own edits, and contributions are logged to the individual (part of the terms of the Creative Commons licence).

If more than one person has access to this account, please get each person to sign up for their own account, and then change the password to something that only you know.

If, on the other hand, I have it all wrong, then I apologize; I hope that you can understand my reason for asking - ie to avoid problems in the future.

Each user has their own user page. Just remember that the name of articles about compositions should be like this--> Ballade No. 2 (Chopin) or Symphony No. 5 (Beethoven). I'm not entirely sure with that section, Czardas was published many times, but I think the main arrangements should be included, for the benefit of our readers. Sandbox

Hi. A 'sandbox' is a working area, somewhere you can test things out before making things live. There are some sandboxes that anyone can edit, see WP:SANDBOX - but that doesn't help much for developing your own things, as people change the content every few minutes.

Therefore, it is a good idea to make your own user subpages, and the easiest way to do it is this; edit your user page (not your user talk page), ie User:Pianoplonkers, and add some lines like this;

* [[User:Pianoplonkers/my sandbox]]
* [[User:Pianoplonkers/another sandbox]]
* [[User:Pianoplonkers/test1]]
* [[User:Pianoplonkers/test2]]
* [[User:Pianoplonkers/test3]]
* [[User:Pianoplonkers/Something else]]

Of course, the names can be anything you like. If you do that, they will all be red links, because they don't exist - but you can click on them and make the pages. Having the links there, on your user page, makes it easy to get back to them, by just clicking your user name at the very top of the screen. You can develop articles there, or simply try things out - and of course other people could 'see' the pages, so you could get help with them too. If you do create an article, it can be moved over to the live area once it is ready.

Start a template, i.e. Template:User WP Romantic, and place the code for the userbox there. Then all you need to do is transclude the box to your userpage by placing {{User WP Romantic}} on your userpage. For example, Template:User WP Anarchism has its code, and when I write {{User WP Anarchism}}, the following shows up:

This user is a member of the
Anarchism WikiProject.

Talk Page

Whenever I want to communicate with Etincelles and Egemont, I have to send them separate messages. Would it be possible to set up a talk page between the three of us so that we didn't have to make copies of the message? I'm a bit confused as to what you mean by "partner" accounts. I'll assume good faith in that they are all operated by separate people.

In regards to your question, you may have a couple of options. For example, you can just agree that all discussions will be at one of your user talk pages (i. e. All discussions between the three of you are on this page) or one of you can set up a subpage (i. e. User talk:Pianoplonkers/Partners or something similar).
