Mdsajibhosen

Hi Phil, it's been a while. Hope you're okay. I'm just letting you know that I blocked Mdsajibhosen. I know you declined the AIV report and I would never normally block after another admin has declined but it's my experience that editors whose first edit is so obviously promotional never become productive editors and sometimes return to dormant accounts to add more spam links/promotional material so there's no downside and potentially a big upside to blocking them. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:27, 11 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Harry, thanks for letting me know. PhilKnight (talk) 15:46, 11 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please proxy block this range.

It seems the entire range, Special:Contributions/65.254.0.0/19 is an open proxy range as well. Seawolf35 (talk - email) 16:19, 14 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Checkuser assistance needed

Greetings, PhilKnight. There appears to be a checkuser block to a user named Elie goodman. However, the person blocked has said that it seems to be a false alarm. It would help out a lot if you can look at this. Cheers, Wikiexplorationandhelping (talk) 16:55, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Firefly: - could you post your findings about the Elie goodman block on the checkuser wiki please? PhilKnight (talk) 17:55, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
@PhilKnight done - here. firefly ( t · c ) 17:57, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! PhilKnight (talk) 18:01, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Wikiexplorationandhelping: - the checkuser evidence shows a possible match to a banned user. I think it's best we wait for ArbCom to review the unblock request. I have just sent them an email asking for them to review the unblock request. PhilKnight (talk) 18:22, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Got it, appreciate the response! I was just afraid that it was a bite, as the user is new, and hasn't made edits that were very disruptive. If this indeed is a false positive, might want to leave a note when unblocked that says "false positive" or along the lines of that. After all, we don't want to drive good editors away, right? I'll continue to follow on this from time to time and see what happens. Thank you for looking at such short notice! Wikiexplorationandhelping (talk) 22:34, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Unprotect request at Kinka

In 2008, you WP:SALTed the page Kinka because it was being recreated over and over about some non-notable subject. I'd like to create a disambiguation page at this title, since there are many pages with "Kinka" in the title but no unified disambig page. (Kinka Beach, Queensland, Kinka Usher, Mount Kinka, Rita Kinka, Kinka Racheva, etc). Could you un-protect it so I could do this? Thanks. HappyWith (talk) 22:06, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:30, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

93* vandal

Thanks for blocking 93.45.183.100 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) but can the range 93.45.160.0/19 be blocked as well? This is a vandal who has caused an astronomical amount of disruption (1000+ troll edits) since 2022, they've been blocked more than 50 times as well. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 20:03, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Looking at the edits the latest are to Lamborghini Countach and seem unrelated. I am sorry, but it looks like it would cause collateral damage. PhilKnight (talk) 21:08, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Following a motion, the Extended Confirmed Restriction has been amended, removing the allowance for non-extended-confirmed editors to post constructive comments on the "Talk:" namespace. Now, non-extended-confirmed editors may use the "Talk:" namespace solely to make edit requests related to articles within the topic area, provided that their actions are not disruptive.
  • The Arbitration Committee has announced a call for Checkusers and Oversighters, stating that it will currently be accepting applications for CheckUser and/or Oversight permissions at any point in the year.
  • Eligible users are invited to vote on candidates for the Arbitration Committee until 23:59 December 11, 2023 (UTC). Candidate statements can be seen here.

Revdel/oversight request

Can you suppress or at least revdelete the usernames in all the disruptive edits at Bodily integrity, Personal rights, and Self-ownership? They are/include a real name of someone who didn't make the edits and are intended to make the person with that name look bad. 41.36.160.35 (talk) 16:51, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I have contacted the other oversighters to gain a consensus on the best approach. PhilKnight (talk) 17:04, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Block Evasion by User:Naveen Areti

Greetings PhilKnight,

Thanks for all you do. You recently blocked Naveen for disruptive editing. They are again on Draft:Thandel with an IP and a brand new account User:Rapo0103. IP is behaving more or less similar to Naveen by removing declined AFC templates from there. I am wondering if there is any permanent solution to it. Maliner (talk) 18:58, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Edit filter problems

@PhilKnight hello I want to add content with refrence at page Lodha (clan) because target page did not mentioned the subject/title being related to Target or any sources there not mentioned the subject and edit filter template bother me when I try to do what I can do now.? 103.191.122.41 (talk) 19:23, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have implemented your proposed edit. PhilKnight (talk) 19:47, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@PhilKnight, Thank you very much sir for responding to me and looking into the edit filter problem. God bless you. Have an appealing day. 103.191.122.41 (talk) 20:21, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Lodha (clan)

When you added the infobox ([4]), was the infobox contents based on any "standard" boilerplate for adding clans? Or are these clan additions being generated by a project somewhere? — GhostInTheMachine talk to me 23:13, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I added the infobox to make an edit on behalf of an IP who was blocked by the edit filter. PhilKnight (talk) 07:26, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Lodha (clan), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jammu and Kashmir. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
