I wouldn't confine Grace Jones to any occupation; if anything, she's a celebrity

If she would to be considered a signer in any location, it would have to be in the UK. In the states, she's primarily known for her acting.

It is not related to how she gained fame by region, though. The content of the article seems to weight more upon her singing career and thus I believe that musician infobox is more appropriate. Besides this, it would have been better to discuss it on the talk page of the article before making a major change on the infobox. (Also please sign your posts.) I'm just adhering to the current rules on the infobox guideline. I'm aware of this discussion; however, it hasn't reached to a definite consensus yet as I observe. If the consensus is established upon the use hlists on the musician and album infoboxes, I will be using them in my future edits. Thank you. Myxomatosis57 (talk) 10:40, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

what is that page like your puppet or something

Why are you not willing to debate that fact at Hardcore Punk . Motorhead at a Minimum is NWOBHM. WHERE DO YOU THINK THE "HEAVY" CAME FROM . Thin air . HARD ROCK and EARLY METAL Combined with Punk Rock is Hardcore. Not totally in 1979 but from 1982 With Battalion Of Saints at a Minimum Up Til NOW. So all of a sudden that page shows up no other editing more or less except HC. Did either of you even have a career in HC . Do you think you "own" the page . Is That Your Sock Puppet. Its going to be investigated . Glad you got involved. Duh. What does this mean to You.... "it took the previous punk sound and added the incessant, heavy drumbeats and distorted guitar sound of New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands, especially Motörhead.[69]" That is On the actual page . So basically you don't care if its wrong. hardcore didn't just happen" out of thin air. Its a HYBRID. 68.39.152.45 (talk) 10:53, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Firstly, calm down. Secondly, hardcore punk is on my watched pages and I didn't see your edits. Only things that I noticed were a capitilized "Punk Rock" and a source supporting punk rock (which I then learnt that was actually meant for heavy metal.) I'm not against the addition of and this can always be discussed on the talk page; however, it is meaningless to engage in edit warring, accuse others or behave in an aggressive way. I'm not owning that article at all and that user is not my sockpuppet. Myxomatosis57 (talk) 11:47, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Ok cool , Im calm . I welcome other points of view and I am glad to see why people /editors either think it should be there or not. I put it back meanwhile esp. since its actually in the story of hardcore anyhow . Ok sorry about the sock puppet mentioning . In these cases for years . this behavior usually 93% has been a sock puppet. I will be back in a few hours or less and lets go to the talk page and or encourage others to show what they feel as well as maybe some sources. have a Great Day . I got a little aggravated after people for about 3 weeks now changing it when its in Fact, TRUE and there is a source , as well as its mentioned in the U.K. section at the hardcore punk page. See you there. 68.39.152.45 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 19:56, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Removal of picture on "Punk rock" site

I agree with you that the two pictures of the Sex Pistols may, indeed, be redundant on the Punk rock site. However, the lead-out picture is always a prominent item in any article (and is usually deemed as being as necessary on a feature article). Therefore, it is always the protocol that, before making such a major change, one go to the talk page and discuss the problem, first, with other editors.

I re-instated the picture, but not out of any disrespect to you. You may, indeed, have a valid point, but we need to wait until other editors have been consulted on the matter. Please, by all means, do bring this matter up on the punk talk page. I might end up concurring with you, and perhaps other editors will as well. This may be the best way to achieve the permanent changes that you wish to make. Perhaps the second picture of the Pistols can be removed. Or, perhaps, if you think the Pistols are the wrong band to put at the top, we could find a picture of another band for the lead-out spot. But, once again, please do bring this matter to the talk page.

If I had not re-instated the picture, then someone else would have. Then they, not only, would have made a permanent change (contrary to yours), but, also, would have been closed to your point of view. I am open to your point of view, so my reversion is should not be taken as a negation. You may, now--in the talk forum--be able to convince the other editors to go along with you (or at least see your point). Thanks, and best wishes. Garagepunk66 (talk) 23:21, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Senior editor, Sabrebd, has decided in the favor of the change you made. So, I acknowledge that your change is OK. Now agreed. Garagepunk66 (talk) 23:28, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
Hello. One of the reasons which I removed the picture (and I think I forgot to mention it in my edit summary) was that it was added without consensus at the first place (I think I gave a wrong impression that I wasn't aware of the consensus policy.) Anyway, I'm glad that problem is solved, albeit in a weird way whatsoever. Thank you. Myxomatosis57 (talk) 06:54, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

FAC review

Hello Myxomatosis. Saw your name on the WP:METAL members' list as one of the few remaining active users. I was wondering if you have time to check the references used in Megadeth, my FA nominee? The discussion is here, so feel free to leave comments. I would appreciate if you respond me here whether I can count on your input. Everything the best and see you.--Retrohead (talk) 08:26, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for contacting me. Considering the constructive comments by other editors, I believe there's nothing much left for me to add. (Article appears to be great except the small parts that are mentioned.) I can assure you that I will be supporting your nomation as long as it is improved in accordance with the comments. Myxomatosis57 (talk) 08:18, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
Yes, the issues with the prose seem to be sorted out. Actually, I was hoping that you could check the reliability of the references used in the article, in the same fashion as Nikkimaria did with the images. I think that procedure is obligatory for FAs, so if you're not in a hurry, your input will be much appreciated.--Retrohead (talk) 08:35, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

Swervedriver article and discography

Firstly, thanks for taking some time to improve the Swervedriver page; as you may have already noticed, I wrote a massive overhaul of it last year—my first major contribution to a Wikipedia article. Being as such, I thought I'd ask your feeling about whether it merits a submission for a Good Article or perhaps even a Featured Article. Secondly, regarding the Swervedriver discography page, what is your opinion about removing the tracklist for the Son of Mustang Ford, Rave Down, and Sandblasted EPs now that they are listed in the articles (which you have graciously created)? Regards, Thisfireburns (talk) 22:00, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello. Thanks for your massive contributions on the article; I was amazed on how well sourced and written the article was. (This did motivate me to create the EP articles and listen to the band.) I believe that it can currently reach the good article status easily if we improve some of the sources. (Actually, the only problematic source is the Swervedriver forum thread, I think it should be substituted.) We can also add a seperate "musical style" or "style" section (I observe this a lot on featured articles such as Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, etc.)
I'm not really sure on the discography, though. I was planning to remove those since my plan was to get most of the Swervedriver EPs/singles that are reviewed here done in following weeks with at least one article per day; however, I think I will be dormant next week. We can still remove them if it is appropriate, though. Regards, Myxomatosis57 (talk) 09:52, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Many thanks for the complements and feedback. Much of my intention for writing it was to draw interest in the band (one of my favorites), so I'm glad it's working. I did mull over whether or not to include the forum as a reference and opted for it since they were posts from Jez and Adi themselves and it could be difficult to find that information elsewhere. It may just take a little work to substitute them. I found the hardest part of writing the main article for me were the points that dealt with the band's style (maybe because I have zero musical background), so if you have any ideas for composing a "Style" section that would be great.Thisfireburns (talk) 12:35, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

I reassessed my suggestion; I think "style" section is not urgent for the moment. However, it would be beneficial if we add it some time in the future. Myxomatosis57 (talk) 07:58, 19 July 2014 (UTC)

Thirty Seconds to Mars

I've removed the list of genres you put in the Musical style section of Thirty Seconds to Mars. That section features a summary of the sort of music played album by album which appears to be more useful and complete of a simple list. Moreover, most of the genres you cited are already in that section. I think the term 'experimental rock' was associated with the tendency of the band to experiments with the elements of various genres.--Earthh (talk) 14:49, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, the reason for my edit was the removal of alternatif rock (due to absence of sources). I think sources for alternative rock (or other genres that are not already mentioned on the article) should be incorporated to the musical section. Myxomatosis57 (talk) 14:54, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Garbage genre

On the cited Vice statement, don't you think it's also referring to the album they're reviewing since they likely included that statement because it's relevant to it? --Lpdte77 (talk) 18:29, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

I don't really believe so. They most probably included it to give background knowlegde about the band's career or style throughout years (similar to an introduction paragraph). This statement would be really nice for the main Garbage article; however, I don't really believe that it'd be that appropriate for the album article. We may still ask other editors for their opinions on this, though. Myxomatosis57 (talk) 18:44, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, that makes sense. I'd added it to the band's page then. Cheers. --Lpdte77 (talk) 06:26, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Songs of Leonard Cohen Covered, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bill Callahan. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Velvet Underground Article.

Hi there,

Is there a reason why you're re-editing a corrected article about The Velvet Underground? The paragraphs aren't correctly aligned to the band's history. I'm a NY music critic, and I'd appreciate it if you laid off that article since your'e deleting pertinent information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.83.209.236 (talk) 00:52, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Joy Division promo photo.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Joy Division promo photo.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Bull of Heaven

The Bull of Heaven page was under protection until mere hours ago because of edits to the genre list. As mentioned by the page's creator, all of the genres are relevant and can be sourced from the various discography pages around the web, as well as sources linked to in the article. They were mentioned in two separate jazz publications last year, so calling them an experimental/avant-garde drone band is a disservice to them as musicians. In the last two years alone, they're released more rock and roll than most bands do in their entire careers. There is no hard and fast rule regarding the length of genre lists, particularly for a band so diverse. I have recommended that the author revert your edit and another protection template put in place for vandalism. Your preferences about the band do not merit questioning the content of the article, when it is thorough, accurate, and descriptive. If you have any suggestions about the genre list, I suggest you begin a discussion on the article's talk page before truncating the list. Lagopodous (talk) 04:17, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

RE: Bull of Heaven

Wikipedia's guidelines do not necessitate the citing of genres and specify no minimum or maximum length for the genre box, and most (if not all) bands do not cite their genres. Take a look at Frank Zappa's genre box. Bull of Heaven have released more music than any band in history, and they are exceptionally diverse. Again, truncating the list to three genres is vandalism, particularly when you have removed several genres they are well-known for (contemporary classical, minimalism, rock and roll, jazz, etc.) that are, indeed, sourced in many of the references in the article. As I mentioned, there are two articles from last year alone that are unambiguous as to the band's jazz productions. Other articles and interviews with the band mention serialism, atonality, microsound, contemporary classical, jazz, dub, fusion, doom metal, and many others. Their interview in the Netherlands alone makes mention of all of these, as well as progressive rock, algorithmic music, avant-garde jazz, and classical. If you have complaints or suggestions, again, the proper place to air your concerns is on the talk page for the article. As it is, you are perpetuating an edit war, which is not in the spirit of Wikipedia or maintaining a NPOV perspective when editing. Check the guidelines for band articles. I have. Delimiting the genres included to three is unacceptable, given that the band is more prolific and diverse than any other in the history of music. Moreover, it is misleading to simply refer to them as an experimental/avant-garde/ drone band, as they have produced more rock music than the Beatles. In 2014 alone, they released at least a dozen hours of psychedelic rock, jazz fusion, and post-rock. Your edits are arbitrary and do not accurately reflect the information provided in many of the sources cited in the article. One might regard this as a simple oversight were you not so zealous in your frivolous selection of genres you personally deem relevant, which is entirely a matter of subjectivity. The band is well known for its divergence from the norm, its various forays into anti-music, classical, musique concrète, noise, rock, and jazz, and for their many stylistically distinct productions. Assigning such a dynamic musical act three closely related genres based solely upon your own opinions and editorial tastes, disregarding the countless mentions of other genres in the references provided, is both myopic and ignorant of the facts presented in practically every article and interview included as references. You've made it clear that you believe further citations are necessary; however, these citations already exist. Furthermore, Wikipedia has no regulations prohibiting an accurate and/or lengthy genre list, nor does it require citations for each genre listed. If you have specific complaints, again, bring it up on the talk page. Reverting edits made by the page's author is in poor taste, commensurate with an edit war, and worse still, not in accordance with any regulation or guideline established by Wikipedia.
