This is not an open proxy. Every user in blocked 2001:470::/32 has a separate /48 or /64 and you have not seen any abuse coming from my /64. — mwgamera (talk) 10:45 pm, Yesterday (UTC−5)

The /32 block has been lifted and you should be able to edit now. Katietalk 14:04, 22 July 2017 (UTC)

editGoogle Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
editHello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

Request reason:
Caught by a colocation web host block but this host or IP is not a web host. My IP address is within 2001:470:71:1b::/64 and I have been using this range for my home network since 2012 and you haven't seen any abuse coming from my /64. The /45 range blocked is used by HURC for free IPv6 tunnels so it's relatively easy for a technical user to get a /64 in it which might lead to it being considered "much like a proxy or VPN" as the template reads, but it's not different than any other ISP—these /64s are allocated automatically upon request but aren't shared or anonymous. If nevertheless it was abused and the block is to stay, I would like to request an exemption (does this request suffice or it has to go through UTRS?). –MwGamera (talk) 03:50, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
Accept reason:
I will give you a short term exemption so you can resume editing now. For a longer term exemption you will need to contact a checkuser by following the instructions at WP:IPECPROXY. 331dot (talk) 09:21, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
@331dot: Sorry to bother you, but can you explain why instead of WP:IPEC, should I follow WP:IPECPROXY? The latter section says I would have to demonstrate a need to edit via anonymous proxies but I surely wouldn't be using the range in question if I had such a need. –MwGamera (talk) 14:03, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- Sorry, my mistake. But as suggested at IPEC you should probably use UTRS. 331dot (talk) 14:14, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
IP block exempt
editI have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit the English Wikipedia through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.
Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions. Inappropriate usage of this user right may result in revocation. I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. !ɘM γɿɘυϘ⅃ϘƧ 17:46, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

Request reason:
I am suffering from a range block of 2001:470:70::/45 which includes my normal range 2001:470:71:1b::/64 that I use at home. The block is not related to my activity in any way. To my best knowledge it is not supported by the Wikipedia blocking policies, but more than one admin seems to like keeping it, so I don't really expect it to be lifted at this point. I previously had IPBE granted for it, but it expired on June 27 while the block is still in effect. I tried requesting an exemption again by filling a request via UTRS in accordance with WP:IPEC over three weeks ago, but still didn't get any response at all. Could someone please look into it? —– MwGamera (talk) 21:10, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
Accept reason:
IPBE granted for one year, based on checkuser verification there's nothing suspicious going on here. Happy editing! Yamla (talk) 21:33, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

Request reason:
I am affected by the range block of 2001:470:70::/45 which includes my regular addresses in 2001:470:71:1b::/64 that I use at home. The block is not related to my activity in any way. There are also no open proxies, web hosts, or whatnot in my /64. To my best knowledge, it's not supported by any of the Wikipedia policies, but some admins seem to like keeping it. My IPBE has recently expired so I tried requesting it again through UTRS as per WP:IPEC, but my request got rejected with a comment to go through checkuser-en-wp@ instead. I tried to do so, but it is unresponsive. I haven't received any reply since last week. Could someone please look into it and help me regain my editing privileges? – MwGamera (talk) 09:45, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
Accept reason:
The block is supported by policies, as that IP range is that of a webhost, it is not permitted to edit via a webhost as they are often used abusively. As you have a history of having a block exemption I will give you another for a year, but please understand that there is an extremely limited number of checkusers and they are not standing by 24/7 waiting for emails- they are volunteers, too. Patience is required. 331dot (talk) 10:50, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
If you want to argue that your IP range is not a webhost, you will need to do that at WP:ANI, but everything I can see says that it is. 331dot (talk) 10:52, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks. I don't feel like going into PvP mode just yet, but I'll keep that in mind. – MwGamera (talk) 12:25, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
