Article Protection

edit

{{help}} I worked a lot on MQM but fanboys mutilated it very frequently. I got fed up and so asked around people to put it on their watchlist at least. Multiple people put it on their watchlist so I concentrated on Tablighi Jamaat to complete it first and then return back to MQM. This artice is very frequently mutilated. Is their anyway I can ask for protection of article from newbie user edits. May it be for some months?

The place to ask for protection is WP:RFPP, but they will need to see that there is current vandalism, articles are not usually protected as a precaution. There are instructions on that page. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:05, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Potentially false information in reliable source

edit

{{help}} What should one do if the information provided in the reliable source is potentially false. Should it be tagged with some template? Is there any relevant template? I cannot find any in WP:TC. I am specifically referring to article Sultan Rahi. This guy surely made many movies, but whether he was included in Guinness Records is not confirmed yet. I found a source from Dunya TV but i believe it may potentially be false as imdb shows many actors with more prolific work. But they have not defined the prolific. I mean in terms of movies, or soaps etc. Hamza [ talk ] 22:02, 19 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you click the "Watch" tab at the top of the other user's talk page, it will be put on your "watchlist"; then, any time you click on "my watchlist" you will see a list of which pages on your watchlist have been altered. You can take a page off your watchlist later by clicking the tab at the top which will have changed to "Unwatch". JohnCD (talk) 10:02, 26 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Toyota Century Royal deletion

edit

I've reverted your edits, as said material is not a violation of Wikipedia guidelines. From my understanding, the main issue is linkage to copyrighted works, which includes TV clips and Movie shots not uploaded by the copyright holder. Clearly, the user-submitted works were shot by said uploaders who hold the copyright and have made the videos available for viewing. You would be right if I had added links to video clips from TV news broadcasts or TV documentaries. Since these are personal videos, they don't exactly violate Wikipedia guidelines. --293.xx.xxx.xx (talk) 20:13, 28 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Great Run

edit

Hi Muhammad. The Great Scottish Run isn't actually part of the "Great Run" series and is not organised by the same group. Obviously, Great Run is a very generic term and other competitions unrelated to the better known events are held in the UK, another example is The Great West Run. I intended the template to be for events run by the Brendan Foster group. Regardless, both these other events may well be worth creating articles for. Certainly the Great Scottish Run has received coverage in the national press and had wide public participation as well as elite runners in attendance (typically the three main things I look at when determining whether something is worth writing about.

I've been creating quite a lot of these types of article – it's something that was not previously well covered on Wikipedia and there are still plenty worth writing. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Cheers! Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)Join WikiProject Athletics! 09:32, 5 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm an occasional runner – more 10K kind of guy rather than marathons or anything too serious. Definitely running for pleasure, but that doesn't mean I don't compete for time with myself! I think quite a few of the athletics editors here are runners as well. Strangely, it was my interest in athletics that started my running rather than vice-versa. You do anything yourself? Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)Join WikiProject Athletics! 13:57, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the week-long delay! Marathons usually require you to sign up for them but typically do not have any special requirements. More popular races might ask you to run for a charity as part of the occasion. Whether the Edinburgh Marathon does this - I have no idea.
I would highly recommend that you do a shorter race first (10K/5K/etc) to get a feel for long distance races. This will help you know where you're at running-wise and prevent any disappointment that may come from heading straight into a marathon unprepared. Shorter runs are quite rewarding in themselves and will help you mentally prepare for the great slog which is the marathon! Your kind response needed

edit

Hello, this is another mate on the English Wikipedia. If i'm posting in wrong place then sorry but i'd appreciated your comments. I'm requesting your comments as i feel some false accusation are being made without reliable sources in some Islam related articles that were created by a single editor User:BengaliHindu. Specially, i found this article 2013 Canning riots with lots of bias and false accusations against Muslims where Muslim clerics were murdered yet blames goes to local Muslim people. May be i'm wrong but it may also possible that such articles were created per Islamophobia. I believe Wikipedia should be free from personal feelings or views and articles on sensitive topics need extra care to maintain a NPOV. I'd deeply appreciate your comments and advises.
