Archival on Wikibooks page

b:Wikibooks:Reading room/Feature requests hasn't ever had MiszaBot archive on it for quite some time. Did someone back in the day just copy the key off another reading room page that isn't valid for that page? If I need to change the key, please let me know. Thanks. Adrignola (talk) 16:10, 1 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

How to get to archived content?

From talk pages.

Bot posted in contravention of nobots tag

Hi. This is a polite notice from myself to inform you that on June 20th 2010, your bot, Miszabot, posted on my talkpage here in direct contravention of a {{nobots}} request inserted into the text of my talkpage. I don't know if this is a technical error on the part of the bot, or what happened to cause it to ignore the order, but I would appreciate it if you could check the code of your bot to ensure that it is operating within normal parameters, and that it is complying with requests. Thank you. BarkingFish Talk to me | My contributions 22:09, 30 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Didn't you figure out on that same day that the nobots had been removed previously? Such that you re-added it after the bot left you the note? –xenotalk 16:07, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I did after looking closely at my edits, I meant to come back here and strike this. I apologise to Misza13 and those involved :) BarkingFish Talk to me | My contributions 21:52, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
FWIW I'm not even sure that MiszaBot is exclusion-compliant; you may wish to explicitly opt-out of that Professional wrestling newsletter. –xenotalk 21:54, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Nonarchiving

On Talk:7 July 2005 London bombings, a section isn't being archived. Are the tags around the date causing Miszabot to miss it?

No comma between time and date. –xenotalk 16:04, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks. How about this one?
—WWoods (talk) 06:35, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Probably this. –xenotalk 14:03, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

MiszaBot visits later and later...

6 months ago the bot would pass by around 17:XX, now it's starting to show up around 19:XX (I suppose either due to demand & max lag?). Maybe the cron could be started earlier? –xenotalk 19:30, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Need archive key

Need key for b:Wikibooks:Reading room/Proposals. The one on that page is copied from the general reading room. Adrignola (talk) 17:21, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Archive parameter

I assume (based on testing) that a relative path to the archive isn't possible like archive = /Archive %(counter)d instead of archive = User talk:Example/Archive %(counter)d. Could it be possible to implement possiblity for relative paths? It would be easier implementing with copy and paste. --Kslotte (talk) 13:54, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

And even easier it would be if archive = /Archive %(counter)d was the default. --Kslotte (talk) 14:52, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Prem Rawat talk malfunction

The bot is closing discussions that are current.Momento (talk) 10:03, 17 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I set the bot to wait 30 days, rather than 10. But the page is awfully big; you might want to set it for something shorter, like 15 or 20.

There appears to be an issue with the bot. It stopped delivering newsletters half-way through. ♥NiciVampireHeart12:56, 19 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

PRE problem

Miszabot III archival seems to go a bit wrong on talk pages containing a bit of text I often paste, which I make with {{subst:user:chzz/refc}} - the content of user:chzz/refc - because it considers the section within PRE tags as a 'section break', viz.

Lost talk content

Here is some talk content lost. No Archive 2 is created. Why? Can it be fixed? --Kslotte (talk) 10:27, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Same type of issue here, where Archive 1 isn't created. --Kslotte (talk) 13:00, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

There were blacklisted links on the pages (this can be tested by trying to paste the original content into a sandbox, the UI will tell you which link is causing the problem). Normally MiszaBot simply doesn't act - in this case, because the archiving were split across several archives the graceful failure mechanism might not have kicked in. Something for Misza13 to look into, perhaps. –xenotalk 14:39, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Another case of this: Talk:Unidentified flying object. Miszabot created Archive 8 but not #7. In cases like this, when there's a red link which should be blue, it's obvious that something's gone wrong. When it's supposed to add to an existing page, the only way to be sure that it's done so is to click on through to the archive page's history — which I doubt anyone is routinely doing. Can't the bot somehow check to see whether a page save has occurred, and if not call for help?
—WWoods (talk) 16:11, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I don't think Misza has updated MiszaBot's code in some time. MiszaBot does have a fail condition, but it appears not to function properly when splitting content into more than one archives. You might consider using ClueBot for archiving if you are running into this issue on a regular basis. Alternatively, ensure that the archivesize is set such that MiszaBot won't split the content into more than one archive. –xenotalk 17:20, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
The only way to ensure that would be to save one section at a time. What does Cluebot do with bad links?
Hey, is there some way to run a global search for blacklisted links, rather than waiting until someone tries to edit a page?
—WWoods (talk) 15:42, 21 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
What I meant was that if the talk page is 150kb when you get there, set the maxarchivesize to 150kb (or slightly less, accounting for the current threads).
Good question!, maybe something to raise at WP:SBL. Having a bot go through to nowiki the bad urls is a decent idea. –xenotalk 15:44, 21 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

User:MiszaBot/config question

Does the {{User:MiszaBot/config}} template/whatever work when transcluded from one page to another? I've put it in <includeonly></includeonly> tags in User:Dffgd/header/talk page, which is transcluded into User talk:Dffgd. Supposedly, the bot won't try to archive User:Dffgd/header/talk page, because of the includeonly tags, and will archive User talk:Dffgd because of the transclusion of {{User:Dffgd/header/talk page}}. However, I know the bot probably looks for the text, so will this work? (If not, I can just move it back to my talk page; I just thought it would be better in a transcluded subpage.) Thanks, dffgd talk·edits 15:31, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

This won't work, the bot needs the text on the target page, not transcluded. –xenotalk 15:37, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
