hi ,also in Category we have Indo-Iranian_peoples not Indo-Iranian!!! article should be complete in name !!! what about your idea?Adykilaes (talk) 15:11, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Adykilaes: Hi. Did you read my message on your talk page? Take your rationale and requested move to Talk:Indo-Iranians per provided instructions. That's all. --Wario-Man (talk) 06:52, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
Please can you check this. I've checked the sources, none of them mentions origin about Ashina, but are talking about etymological origin. And one of them does not even say anything about Ashina. I am tired about unexplained reverts of Hunan201p. He always gives your name but you seem silent. What do you think? I think It should be moved to "Etymology" instead of "origin", "have pointed out that the origin of the Ashina is from the Iranian Saka" this is sorely wrong and may give readers misinterpretation. "Several historians have pointed out that the origin of the Ashina is from the Indo-Aryan Wusun.[1]", this is fake as well. I've read the source, Klyashtorni is saying that the origin myths links but are not same, plus he is saying that Wu-sun are Iranians, not even Indo Aryan. Thanks. New Page Reviewer newsletter February 2020
Hello Mann Mann,
- Source Guide Discussion
The first NPP source guide discussion is now underway. It covers a wide range of sources in Ghana with the goal of providing more guidance to reviewers about sources they might see when reviewing pages. Hopefully, new page reviewers will join others interested in reliable sources and those with expertise in these sources to make the discussion a success.
- Redirects
New to NPP? Looking to try something a little different? Consider patrolling some redirects. Redirects are relatively easy to review, can be found easily through the New Pages Feed. You can find more information about how to patrol redirects at WP:RPATROL.
- Discussions and Resources
- There is an ongoing discussion around changing notifications for new editors who attempt to write articles.
- A recent discussion of whether Michelin starred restraunts are notable was archived without closure.
- A resource page with links pertinent for reviewers was created this month.
- A proposal to increase the scope of G5 was withdrawn.
- Refresher
Geographic regions, areas and places generally do not need general notability guideline type sourcing. When evaluating whether an article meets this notability guideline please also consider whether it might actually be a form of WP:SPAM for a development project (e.g. PR for a large luxury residential development) and not actually covered by the guideline.

Disruptive IP hopper
Thanks for spotting this.[1] This IP range is operated by someone on a zealous mission (since 2018) to purge Caucasus (North Caucasus in particular) related articles from any ties to Iran, and to diminish Iran's long-standing influence/history in the region. His IP range has been rangeblocked recently.[2]-[3] His editorial pattern is basically the Chechen/Lezgin/Avar version of LTA Satt 2.[4] - LouisAragon (talk) 18:35, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Fringe edits by “account on mission”
Hello, I got awareness of fringe edits by Hunan201p (https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Special:Contributions/Hunan201p) promotion racist ideas of “blonde haired and blue eyed” warriors in East Asia. His used references do not support these claims and only mention unknown origin in the case of the Xianbei. More fringe are his edits on blonde (hair) or Genghis Khan (also see talkpage). Rashid al-din did not say Genghis had red hair, but wrote about Genghis reaction to the skin colour of his grandchild which was not reddish but swarty. I have included the direct quote and a link yesterday, but currently no one has reacted. I m writing you as well because you seem to be a good editor and know much about Wikipedia rules. I think many edits of Hunan violate WP:SCIRS and WP:WEIGHT. Additionally some things about him remember me on the long term vandal Tirgil34 (http://en.m.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Long-term_abuse/Tirgil34). I mean blonde or red haired turks are his main target, as seemingly Hunan. Anyway l, someone should watch this user carefully. Best regards.38.121.43.208 (talk) 15:04, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Wario-Man, I would like to point out that the above user is likely WorldCreaterFighter, a notorious sockmaster, based on his edit history regarding me and various subjects WorldCreaterFighter is known to obsessively edit, such as Austroasiatic languages. Multiple active sockpuppet investigations involve his name as I type this. I am, of course, not a sockmaster and never encouraged or participated in sockpuppetry of any kind, ever. - Hunan201p (talk) 01:10, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
Can you help revert back the Vandalism done on the Central Asia page?
Hello, as you may have noticed, on the Central Asia page the user Casperti have reverted back all the earlier additions by Jirgen666 again in an edit war, without disproving the merits of the new additions and without citations (ex. no page numbers, etc). His own claim that Central Asian nations (including Afghanistan) are named by Humboldt in his definition of the region is obviously false, since modern nations in Central Asia as we know it didn't exist in the 19th Century. Jirgen666's own elaborated citations on Humboldt's definition of Central Asia as stretching from the Ustyurt plateau in Western Kazakhstan to the Khingan mountains in Inner Mongolia (backed by citation including page number) is also deleted without reason.
I agree that the relation to Inner Asia can be its own section, but Casperti deleted this information altogether.
Also, the user keeps on deleting the political map of Central Asia as the 5 stans, while adding the map labelled as Central Asia with Afghanistan in it. The user thus seems to have an agenda to push Afghanistan into the definition of the region while omitting Mongolia and other parts. Can you please take a look at this? Thank you.
Update: the vandalism has been reverted by another administrator. No need for any further action for now. Thanks.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Gonomadlife (talk • contribs)
- If this was any more obvious a sockpuppet of Jirgen666, their username would be Jirgen667. Blocked. Ian.thomson (talk) 22:03, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
Need your insight
Hi Wario-Man,
You reverted yourself yesterday because Jirgen666 may have some legit points. I still see it as NPOV one-purpose account but he was right about the latitudinal definition of Humboldt. So I added that to the information that was already there. But what do you think that should be added furthermore on the Central Asia page in addition to the information that was there Pre-blocked users edits. Wikaviani thought I added that Afghanistan containing map recently while I did not do that ofcourse as it was there for years I think, he will see my message today. But anyways Jirgen666 was right about Humboldt. Humboldt did not have a definition containing modern countries but he did mention cities and geographic aspects of the region, which can be traced back to his book "asie centrale", don't worry I added his book in the sources. So do you have any more ideas about what should be added? Casperti (talk) 00:42, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

Hello Mann Mann,
- Your help can make a difference
NPP Sorting can be a great way to find pages needing new page patrolling that match your strengths and interests. Using ORES, it divides articles into topics such as Literature or Chemistry and on Geography. Take a look and see if you can find time to patrol a couple pages a day. With over 10,000 pages in the queue, the highest it's been since ACPERM, your help could really make a difference.
- Google Adds New Languages to Google Translate

Your help
Hey Wario-Man, i nominated Medo-Babylonian conquest of the Assyrian Empire to GA level, however, the reviewer suggested to uniformize the cites (with Harv style), but i don't know if it is possible to insert a link in the Harv style in order to make verifiability easier for our readers. The article already contains some Harv style cites but without any access to the cited sources using that formatting. Take care.---Wikaviani (talk) (contribs) 18:42, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Another sockfarm
Hi Wario-Man! If you look at at the recent history of Iran, you will see two new obvious socks of User:ShaynDiamond (not yet reported). The disruption is not as blatant as usual, but still annoying. Do you think it is worth considering to request for WP:ECP? –Austronesier (talk) 14:37, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Austronesier: First submit a SPI case with checkuser request. After SPI results, submit a protection request. Because you need to prove why semi-protection is not enough. In my opinion, reporting ShaynDiamond (SPI report) is enough for now unless he becomes a non-stop troll. ECP is usually for extreme cases. --Wario-Man (talk) 05:04, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- Ok, it is indeed not that extreme. The last disruptions were quite lukewarm compared to the earlier blatant nonsense.
- Btw, there is a novice editor with an unsual combination of topics for the first dozen of edits[5]. Turkestan + Austric (and especially the subtle preference for the inclusion of Japanese) already make them look like a duck to me. –Austronesier (talk) 08:43, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- Try to solve the issue via article talk pages or by warning them. And if you're sure about sockpuppetry, then take it to SPI. --Wario-Man (talk) 10:11, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
Hi Wario-Man, Thankyou for your comment in the edit section for the article Yuezhi. You mentioned that i should have taken this revert to the talk page and that is what i had done here [[6]]. I think i had used credible references to the information i added and i would appreciate your comment on them. ThankyouKami2018 (talk) 19:06, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

Visioncurve
You should check out Visioncurve, with whom I'm arguing at Turkmens where he's trying to keep old scholarship favored by Pan-Turkicists in the article. He's only been on the site for a short time. Most of his edits are repetitive tasks like welcoming editors or reverting vandalism - the sorts of things a sock uses to get established. When he does do substantial edits, he seems to be focusing on Turkic topics. Might be a sock, but you know the area better so I'll let you be the judge.--Ermenrich (talk) 22:40, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
- It's actually more suspicious. The account made its first edits in 2018, but just two, before making a couple more in 2019 and then lots as of February this year [7]. The second edit of 2019 was reversing a redirect from Turkomans to Turkmen [8]. They show no difficulty in learning how to properly edit. Looks like a recently activated sleeper to me, but the question is if you know of who.--Ermenrich (talk) 12:57, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Ermenrich: Take a look at this block log. It seems like he tries to establish himself as a trusted/normal editor because his current WP run is his last chance. A sockmaster or a sockpuppet? I don't think so. But he may be a biased user; e.g. see his comments on Talk:Samanid Empire. --Wario-Man (talk) 06:35, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- And read this Talk:Turkmens#Source_verification. --Wario-Man (talk) 07:22, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- What do you think about his establishing Turkoman (ethnonym) as an article separate from Turkmen? Seems fairly suspicious to me, given that Turkoman is just an old transcription of Turkmen. It looks like he's trying to connect various ethnic groups to Turkmen.--Ermenrich (talk) 13:36, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- Actually that article is legit. Turkoman =/= Turkmen. Turkoman was a term used for some Oghuz peoples/tribes in medieval sources while Turkmen is the name of a modern ethnic group. Just like Iraqi Turkmen =/= Turkmen. They are two different ethnic groups. --Wario-Man (talk) 07:56, 3 August 2020 (UTC)

Reliability of Sources
If the reliability of Leonie Freida(..long story..) is based on the cited usage of her work then Kaveh Farrokh's works should also be considered reliable sources.

Agh!
I just closed a case at AN3 but it got lost - I mean the whole case and at least one other - in your revert. I really don't want to have to edit it again. It was brought by this sock against Kansas Bear - who had also brought a case against the sock. I guess it doesn't matter in the long run but there may be others you deleted. I don't want to have to handle it again. Doug Weller talk 08:37, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

Editor to watch
Hi Wario-Man, I've just become aware of this user Onche de Bougnadée. He seems interest in "Altaic" topics and edits sparingly. Also at least some interest in dinosaurs. Look familiar?--Ermenrich (talk) 16:54, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Ermenrich: Hi. They may be another account of User:AsadalEditor (User:WorldCreaterFighter). But currently I don't see any obvious pattern of well-known blocked sockmasters. I sense some kind of ignoring WP:WEIGHT and biased edits in their contributions; e.g. the cited sources[16] are OK but that user represented them like pov/biased stuff. --Wario-Man (talk) 19:51, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

Quickly reverting warnings is not a good sign
Please note this. I have tried to communicate to numerous editors and at least one or two admins, that the user you warned is trouble for this encyclopedia project. I am sure that eventually it will become consensus to block him from editing, at least in certain topics. Until then, I think I'll just start a betting pool, where we can select future dates that would mark when the block is actually imposed! - AppleBsTime (talk) 22:09, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
- Stop harassing me everywhere , you are obsessed with me all over wikipedia and stalking me everywhere due to your hatred of Muslims and Turks , I'm free to do whatever I want on my own talkpage , reverting warning means I've already read it and done , you are the one who should get blocked and banned for life over your endless stalking and harassment AleviQizilbash (talk) 10:24, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

Jeong et al. 2020
I saw your revert on the pages I added Jeong et al. 2020. I do not understand what does this have to do with WP:Weight? WP:Weight says that every opinion of a reliable source must be mentioned, but that minority views should be marked as such. Jeong et al. 2020 is not a minority view nor a majority view but simply the results. The early Turks were found to be largely West-Eurasian with strong links to the BMAC culture. The rising East Asian ancestry is linked to the migration of Mongols and Tungusic peoples. This are the results which must be mentioned. I do not see how this is a case for WP:Weight. Could you please explain your view on this? Thank you in advance.212.95.5.84 (talk) 08:11, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- Weight is about how much weight you give to a specific source. We don't dedicated a full paragraph to a specific source. You should summarize it. Plus the cited article is still a preprint and has not been certified by peer review. So currently you can't cite it. You need to wait. --Wario-Man (talk) 12:46, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

Your recent edits
Please don't use automated tools to make cosmetic edits, as you did in this edit. Also, please don't bypass redirects, as you did in this edit. Besides being pointless busywork, this makes it difficult to tell when an article needs to be moved to the common name. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 04:05, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- @NinjaRobotPirate: OK, I got that "redirects" part and I stop doing such edits. But why this type of cleanup[19] is wrong? Removing whitespaces/blank spaces (saving some bytes) or making all section titles following same format (spaced or non-spaced). I read the mentioned policy/guideline but I'm still confused. Would you please clarify it? When I'm allowed to use cleanup scripts? --Wario-Man (talk) 06:51, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- We don't need to save some bytes. See Wikipedia:Don't worry about performance for some advice posted c. 2006 – almost 15 years ago (a lifetime ago for the internet). Secondly, some people like having whitespace because they think it improves readability. Think of it this way: if I removed the spaces from between my words, it would save a lot of whitespace, but it would also make the sentences much harder to read. Wikipedia's software itself tends to include whitespace in headers and other places, which makes removing whitespace a neverending (and kind of pointless) mission. Finally, cosmetic edits clog up the article history, recent changes, and watchlists. I have thousands of articles on my watchlist. This helps a lot when detecting something like date vandalism across 10 BLPs, which I can then revert. But it also means that I get to see all these edits that don't do anything but mess around with the whitespace. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 07:14, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- @NinjaRobotPirate: None of those cleanup scripts removes necessary spaces or affects the readability. They just clean the source and some perform WP:MOS stuff. But I got your point and I understand it's not helpful/useful to perform dozens of continuous/similar cleanup edits on dozens of articles (especially same topic) in a short amount of time. So I won't overuse scripts/tools again; no more mass usage. Thanks for notifying me. --Wario-Man (talk) 11:20, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

New Page Patrol December Newsletter
Hello Mann Mann,
- Year in review
It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

Iranian Turkmen
I just added a WP:RS source to this article.[21] Is Ethnologue reliable, as in, on par with Brill journals or even the CIA World Factbook? - LouisAragon (talk) 20:56, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
- @LouisAragon: Ethnologue cites other people's works for the total number of speakers and ethnic population. It's OK but Ethnologue is not free anymore thus not easy to verify its content. Plus when you see someone's cited Ethnologue, you should check the original content for two reasons: 1. total number of speakers of a specific language =/= the population of a specific ethnic group 2. You can use the source that Ethnologue uses if you think it's reliable; e.g. if Ethnologue cites XYZ, you better cite XYZ instead of Ethnologue itself. --Wario-Man (talk) 04:32, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
- For the total number of speakers, you can cite this[22]; page 13 has a table about them and other Turkic ethnic groups in Iran. --Wario-Man (talk) 04:54, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
