Romblon municipal seals and flags

edit

Hi Lawrence. This is Francis Prado aka Bobot Marin Prado (FB) and Guinpucan (Wikipedia). Can you please add the rest of the municipalities in Romblon to have Municipal Seal/Flag if possible. Please visit my FB account as 'Bobot Marin Prado'. You can add Alcantara, Calatrava, Concepcion, Ferrol, Santa Fe and Santa Maria. Corcuera got a new logo, same with Looc and San Jose, I guess you can gather these information with permission from its municipal websites. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.202.150.155 (talk) 16:10, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Francis. Thank you for the heads up. Sure, I will gladly get these images. Please continue to work with me to make the Romblon Wikipedia articles enriching and encyclopedic. User:Lawrence_ruiz (talk) 10:43, 22 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Lawrence ruiz. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Betty Go-Belmonte, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Hello Lawrence. Given that you work for the STAR and that Belmonte is closely related to STAR, I think you have a conflict of interest. My own opinion is that editors can work with such conflicts, but they must be very careful. In this case, the Belmonte article is nowhere near being ready for Good Article status. So I will urge you to declare your COI on the article talk page and do much more work on the article. I don't know for sure how to withdraw a GA from the review process. Perhaps you can simply revert the nomination you made. In any event, if you do not withdraw I might do a review. But I can say I will fail the article. Please feel free to discuss with me. Thanks. S.   Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Betty Go-Belmonte. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Lawrence, I'd like to assist, but you should consider your association with STAR and please refrain from letting your connection with STAR from interfering with proper Wikipedia editing. Thanks.S. Rich (talk) 07:21, 31 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:Betty Go-Belmonte, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Lawrence, this message is a "template" message that contains pre-scripted material. But it contains important information. I urge you to read and consider. Thanks.S. Rich (talk) 07:27, 31 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please do not revert back the population of Bacoor City to 2010. The 2015 census is now available so why revert back to 2010? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Markxvi (talkcontribs) 12:26, 15 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Because initial changes of the population from 2010 to 2015 figures were unsourced and made use of 2010 references. And while the figures now have references, figures weren't in the provided link, but in the Excel file which you have to download. Figures must be readily seen within the source website. — Lawrence Ruiz (talk) 12:39, 15 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Office of Civil Defense (Philippines). You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 23:06, 16 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016

edit

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:21, 24 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Sources needed for Days of the Year pages

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the content guideline and the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide. Please do not add new additions to these pages without direct sources as the burden to provide them is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages. Thank you. 2019 US Banknote Contest

edit
  US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Dear Pureromblomanon (talk), please be advised that your continuous inclusion of trivial content in Romblon-related articles constitutes a violation of Wikipedia's Manual of Style. You've included entire sections such as former town names and territorial changes that lack references and are presented in tabular form when this should be presented in paragraph form and with complete citations. You also included entire sections on former and incumbent town executives and council members in tabular when this isn't the general practice in other Wikipedia articles about towns, cities and provinces in the Philippines.

Also remember that the articles you are editing are about the towns/cities in Romblon, and not an article about its former public officials. This is also not a website for each town but an encyclopedic article about each town. Therefore, the content of each article should be concise and relevant, not trivial. Why do we need to know who are the councilors in 2016 or 2010? What purpose does this serve when most of these officials don't even have Wikipedia articles of their own and have not even achieved a certain degree of notoriety? Should you want to discuss at length the history of each town's public officials, create an article such as "Mayors of Romblon" or "Governors of Romblon", provided that these articles have ample relevant content and are well-referenced. Please read Wikipedia's Manual of Style and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Philippine-related articles before editing. — Lawrence Ruiz (talk) 07:58, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Non-free content use

edit

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload files. However, it appears that one or more of the files you have uploaded or added to a page, specifically User:Lawrence ruiz/sandbox, may fail our non-free policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted file of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Marchjuly (talk) 10:33, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

non-free content like File:Statue of the Sentinel of Freedom.JPG cannot be displayed on user pages per WP:NFCC#9 and WP:UP#Non-free files. Seda Hotel moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Seda Hotel, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Replaceable fair use File:Leo Oracion at Everest Base Camp, May 2006.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Leo Oracion at Everest Base Camp, May 2006.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 01:20, 3 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:42, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Seda Hotel.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:40, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
