Explanation of my explanation :-)
editYour user page is a copy of the Han (surname) article. However, when you copied the text of the article to your user page, you also copied the [[Category:category name]] and the {{stub-name}} codes that put your user page into the same categories ("Chinese family names", "China stubs", etc) as the article. Our user page guidelines state that this is not a good thing to do - user pages should not share the same categories as articles, as that may be confusing for people looking at the categories.
To fix this problem, I have enclosed all the problematic codes in <nowiki> ... </nowiki> tags. This will allow the original code to be included in the article while not putting your user page in categories meant only for articles. The rest of the article has been left untouched.
If you wish to move your user page text into the article itself, just copy the text into the article and remove the <nowiki> ... </nowiki> tags. Kimchi.sg 03:22, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- When the article's title already serves as the correct sort order, you don't need to insert a sort key... --Nlu (talk) 03:16, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Didn't know that; thx Hanfresco 18:44, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Han (surname)
editFirst of all, please don't take possession of the article. Articles are not "ours". It doesn't work that way. Wikipedia is collaborative. Secondly, the section in question already has the expand tag. I felt like the stub tag was redundant in a case like that. --Woohookitty(meow) 21:59, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: Kankoku, Hanguk...
editThey are written and pronounced the same in Japanese and Korean as well. I would have thought saying that it had exactly the same characters implied that (certainly it would tend to in Chinese). Saying "Chinese" specifically excludes both Japanese and Korean. Maybe if we didn't use the word "Chinese" at all, and said "although it is pronounced and written the same"? elvenscout742 10:12, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi! I'm sorry but I reverted your good faith edit. Please see the order of the languages on the Main Page. Japanese is 日本語/Nihongo. So it is listed after Nederlands. Regards. Oda Mari (talk) 14:34, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- I saw your message. I knew that page. Actually I saw that page before I posted my message to you yesterday. When I first came to En WP I put the link like you did. Then I noticed it came after Nederlands on most pages. Since then I put ja link after Nederlands. It looks like there's no rule about it. To tell the truth, I'm confused about the matter. (sigh) What do you think about the matter and what is the best way? Regards. Oda Mari (talk) 04:51, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Qing Dynasty empresses
editI notice you have previously participated in discussions about the article titles for Qing empresses. I am interested in getting opinion on the correct location of the articles on Qing empresses which are almost all currently located at hideous violations of pinyin rules. I don't have opinions on the format or even the names themselves so I would like to get some consensus before proposing moves. (But please, no hyphens and no CamelCase.) The articles in question are every CamelCase or hyphenated name plus Empress Xiao Xian and Abahai at Category:Qing Dynasty empresses and Category:Qing Dynasty empress dowagers. If you are interested please discuss it here. Thanks. — AjaxSmack 03:12, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).
I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.
If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!
If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.
Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 23:57, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

editReplace the warnings. Removal of warnings is considered to show that they have read the warning. Replacing them will get you blocked. How the editor behaves after the warnings is now more important. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 08:55, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not sure you completely understand the situation. Look at User_talk:99801155KC9TV's history. Now look at his comments for those deletes. He removed those comments saying they are VANDALISM. In the absence of any indication that he deleted those comments for the reason you say he deleted them for, it seems to me that he directly violated Wikipedia:Talk_page_guidelines#Editing_comments. That said, I welcome your warning on this talk page; I didn't know there were such things as warnings. If you could be link me the appropriate wiki page detailing what exactly a warning is, preferably how it is different from a regular comment, I would much appreciate it. Hanfresco (talk) 09:36, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- As per WP:BLANKING a user may remove warnings or comments from their own talkpage. The guidelines your quoting are relating to other talkpages, such as article talkpages, admin noticeboards, etc. That said, if he modifies comments you leave them on their talkpage to make them read differently it's a different situation. Removing them, however, it tacit acceptance whether he calls them vandalism or not (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 09:44, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- Just making sure, are we talking about the removal/restoring Zanhe's comment? If so, fair enough :).
- ... and here are the various warning templates (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 09:46, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- This doesn't define a warning, only that templates can be used as a warning. Is a comment never a warning if it is not used in a template? Hanfresco (talk) 09:59, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- Apparently I misunderstood your question. It's actually better to warn using written words, however templates are "common, approved wording" that can be used. If you ever said "don't do X" - whether through a template or written word, it's generally a warning. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:06, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, I think this is getting closer to what I'm asking. You said "replacing a warning will get you blocked". Therefore, to avoid any ambiguities, I want to know if there is a formal definition of 'warning'. Secondly, since 'warnings' are so powerful and can potentially lead to blocks, who gets the authority to give warnings? Clearly, as you have seen in User_talk:99801155KC9TV, the guy/gal is trigger happy with vandalism templates. All I'm saying is, if there is no formal definition of a 'warning', then it would lead to needless bickerings over a deleted comment/warning, as in this case. Hanfresco (talk) 11:30, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. On viscounts of Zhao
editHi Hanfresco! I agree with you on your opinion, I chose "viscount" just to follow the naming convention created by some other editors.Am aware that calling these guys, who lived in a time before the title "viscount" was even created, viscounts would be strange. Since these people lived in a time equivalent to the time of the Old testment.....
If you would change them into more suitable names, am completely fine with it and will give you my support.----Sunzhai (talk) 10:48, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
