Hi, I hope you don't mind me butting in but I saw this edit at Walkabout (film) where you reverted Hayal12 with the reason "we use character names". I understand the reason behind your revert, but I think it's worth pointing out that this is how the characters are actually credited in the film. It's a few years since I last watched it but I don't even recall the principal characters actually having names. Betty Logan (talk) 18:35, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Betty Logan: Thank you, that is highly unusual, thanx for pointing this out. - FlightTime (open channel) 18:37, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

I don't see how anything can be more public than a blog visible to the world on WordPress. But it seems you are determined to maintain an inaccurate statement on Wikipedia at all costs. 2A02:C7D:268C:4E00:24F0:7E28:197D:3823 (talk) 00:28, 24 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello FlightTime. Regarding the changes made to the Chicago-band article involving Bruce Gaitsch as a member, the references in question were added to the article in my original edit back on December 11th. They are already in the Chicago article under citation numbers 90 (repeated 146), 91, and 92. The other editor did not remove these sources from the Chicago-band article when they reverted it, they only changed the content in the article itself. The specific references are as follows: [1][2][3]. Is this sufficient to explain the changes I originally made? I am not trying to engage in an edit war, and if I did I apologize.

Being "public" is not a requirement, being sourced by independent reliable sources is. Blogs and Wordpress websites are not reliable sources for any content - FlightTime (open channel) 00:36, 24 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia is no more reliable than Wordpress since it relies on self-appointed editors whose historical and literary skills are sometimes woefully inadequate to interpret information which is either partial or obsolete, as it is in this case. The public statement on Wordpress, by the subject in question, clearly indicates that this is so. The editors, by contrast, make assertions - not statements of fact - which are not based on up to date information. Which in plain English means that they have got it wrong. 2A02:C7D:268C:4E00:D87E:3B5E:443A:6749 (talk) 13:40, 24 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Mistaken edit

John Bonham did in fact strike a gong on "What is and What Should Never Be", so the message you sent me was probably one sent in error. Your ping on OJOM's talk page

I am considering administrative action against another editor. There is evidence of substantial disruptive editing, but you seemed to be saying that there was a long-running pattern. Are you able to provide diffs? Kind regards Buckshot06 (talk) 20:18, 20 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Buckshot06: Well, I would have to do extensive searching, my comment was just in regards to any comments/warnings I've posted to their talk page. It's been awhile since I've seen any activity on their talk page, frankly, that's what spawned my comment to you, was finding their talk page on my watchlist and thinking "their back" :P I don't know if I can produce the attention span to research random diffs, but I would definitely try to find any specific one that might be needed. - FlightTime (open channel) 20:33, 20 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
The record of conduct of this editor is so blatantly uncooperative that I could almost block him for disruptive editing alone, but, if you would like this problem solved, I would urge you to round up the others who have encountered similar problems. Please, do me a favour, and we can try to get this sorted. Buckshot06 (talk) 20:57, 20 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Adding something to the Blue Cheer page

I have proof that Group B should be under Associated acts under Blue Cheer. Dickie Peterson was in a band called Group B in 1965. https://www.allmusic.com/artist/group-b-mn0001008803 https://www.discogs.com/artist/1427723-Group-quotBquot Inside the album and CD of Blue Cheer 7 it says that he was in group B. If I would of put down Group B (1965) before instead of Group B would you have taken that off than? BlueCheerfan (talk) 20:23, 26 January 2018 (UTC)BlueCheerFanReply

@BlueCheerfan: Your proof needs to be with the information you added. See Help:Referencing for beginners. Thank you, - FlightTime (open channel) 20:25, 26 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
I gave you some proof before with those links. Here is some more proof. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/dickie-peterson-front-man-for-the-influential-american-power-trio-blue-cheer-1821769.html It also said he was in Group B on this link on the 3rd photo of the 5th paragraph that started with the name Jim Keylor. http://bluecheerarchive.com/bluecheernews.htm
@BlueCheerfan: Please read what I said, I don't need the proof, the article does. - FlightTime (open channel) 20:47, 26 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
I do not understand it. Things was putting down before without doing that and the proof of it was found online. I was never told about that before when I put something down. What would happen if I put down Group B (1965) under the link? Would you take it down?BlueCheerfan (talk) 20:57, 26 January 2018 (UTC)BlueCheerFanReply
@BlueCheerfan: See Help:Referencing for beginners, also WP:THREAD. - FlightTime (open channel) 21:00, 26 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I am so sorry but I really look in the links. It does not show you on it anywhere to give proof to the links about something. It tells you on how to put something up though. Why would I have to give proof to links too if I show you proof? People are the ones that runs things and knows about things. Stuff like online and robots only follow orders. They are nothing without us. This is becomming harder than it is worth. You should not have to be so picky. I know wiki try not to have fake stuff up but something that is there should be up as it is part of history. Wiki should have at least all of the main stuff of a topic up. There is like nothing else of Group B that is out. It is an underground artist. Wiki told me before that wiki is not something you should be reliable on. So that means it is not always 100# true. Adding group B to the list should not be that bad and not the thing to really watch for when there are other things on wiki. So, group B should be on the list.BlueCheerfan (talk) 23:44, 26 January 2018 (UTC)BlueCheerFanReply

Can you please answer me back right away so I know you got this I really need a answer. BlueCheerfan (talk) 18:58, 27 January 2018 (UTC)BlueCheerFanReply

A message from 209.234.180.22

I recently added my name, Kenny Rodgers (guitar) 1982, to this list of Black Oak Arkansas players, which was later removed. I do not have any citations. But I did play with the lineup that included Jim Mangrum, Chris Craig, Kinley Wolfe, Angelo Earl, and Billy Batte. That was in the spring/summer of 1982, right after Shawn Lane left. If you care to check with any of those people, they would probably confirm that i was there. Also, there was a guitarist after me, Alex Amung (sp?) who is also not listed.

A message from Objectiveap

Greetings FlightTime, @FlightTime: Regarding the revert of well sourced "spiritual leader" reference on Sathya Sai Baba - did you read my latest entries on c.fred talk page before reverting? Kindly do so or let me know you have - I've checked the history and since "cult leader" was applied just recently on November 28th, 2017 there has been a lot of dispute that it doesn't belong. No Consensus should mean that the objective version that has been there for years and years remains, not the new fangled version using a tabloid's (The Sun) shock value headline as a "support". To apply a derogatory term in the first line of a description of a subject requires consensus. The application of a description used by the majority of major media (IE Spiritual Leader) is far more objective. Thoughts? Objectiveap (talk) 17:42, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Objectiveap: Yes I did and you'll need consensus on the article's talk page. - FlightTime (open channel) 18:02, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your response. Logistically could you outline any authority you may have here? Are these wikipedia by laws? Are you the official admin of wikipedia for this page? Or are you just saying you will continue as a person to enforce the newly added description "cult leader" unless it is proved otherwise by consensus? A message from MoviePhan

Hi - take another look at the edit you reversed on Dawn Wells - I added a citation where there was a 'citation needed' template. If you think the MeTV stuff is "non notable trivia" then by all means delete that whole sentence but it does not make sense to revert back to a 'citation needed'. MoviePhan (talk) 23:03, 23 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

@MoviePhan: "When he died on January 2, 1990, she was the only cast member to attend his memorial" is not notable and is why I reverted your edit. You are free to seek consensus on the article's talk page. - FlightTime (open channel) 23:06, 23 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Weird - I did not intend to make any edit to that comment. I added the citation to MeTV farther down the article. Ok with you if I just go back in and add ONLY that citation? MoviePhan (talk) 23:08, 23 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

A message from 79.71.210.181

Hello. Regarding the vocal range of Bruce Dickinson, there has been a lot of work to create uniform standards as to what constitutes vocal range in the online singing community in the past couple of years. A lot of mumbles, brief voice cracks, uncontrolled yelps etc. for singers had been previously counted until a drive to improve quality of research. Articles pre-2017 are now considered pretty obsolete among researchers, since the standards varied so much. Having gone through all of Bruce Dickinson's recorded backcatalogue and conferring with numerous other vocal range researchers, I have concluded that Dickinson's displayed vocal range across his recording career is currently 4 octaves and 1 semitone. 79.71.210.181 (talk) 23:54, 26 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sounds like you need to publish this finding in a book or magazine. Since Wikipedia is built on WP:SECONDARY sources, with WP:No original research allowed, your conclusion is not established enough to include. I made the change to Izzy Stradlin's page. For years this page has said his real name is Jeffrey Dean Isbell. Every source I've ever seen has verified that. I did not find any sources to say his real last name is Stradlin. I'm not sure how that change ever happened and no links on this page point to any sources that show his name to be Jeff Stradlin.

Upcoming changes to wikitext parsing

Hello,

There will be some changes to the way wikitext is parsed during the next few weeks. It will affect all namespaces. You can see a list of pages that may display incorrectly at Special:LintErrors. Since most of the easy problems have already been solved at the English Wikipedia, I am specifically contacting tech-savvy editors such as yourself with this one-time message, in the hope that you will be able to investigate the remaining high-priority pages during the next month.

There are approximately 10,000 articles (and many more non-article pages) with high-priority errors. The most important ones are the articles with misnested tags and table problems. Some of these involve templates, such as infoboxes, or the way the template is used in the article. In some cases, the "error" is a minor, unimportant difference in the visual appearance. In other cases, the results are undesirable. You can see a before-and-after comparison of any article by adding ?action=parsermigration-edit to the end of a link, like this: https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Arthur_Foss?action=parsermigration-edit (which shows a difference in how {{infobox ship}} is parsed).

If you are interested in helping with this project, please see Wikipedia:Linter. There are also some basic instructions (and links to even more information) at https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-ambassadors/2018-April/001836.html You can also leave a note at WT:Linter if you have questions.

Thank you for all the good things you do for the English Wikipedia. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 21:18, 19 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Millennials edit

Hi FlightTime, I noticed that you recently reverted User:Aboutbo2000 here [6] so thank you. Recently, the same user made these edits [7] after your revert and tried to add back what they had before but now with two sources. But the sources do not support the claims made. [8] and [9] which the user used both say "as of 2016, Millennials would be 20 to 35." That is 1981 - 1996. Could you revert User:Aboutbo2000 edits again please? Someone963852 (talk) 01:00, 25 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Someone963852: Well, no reason to go into editwarring mode, I think since you have the diffs, maybe you should revert. Two editors reverting the same edits has more validity anyway.   - FlightTime (open channel) 01:11, 25 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately I'm unable to revert due to edit-warring on the article in the past. Looking back at the two sources, the user probably got 1998 from the end note at the bottom of the second article. So I guess that could be left on for now. Anyway, thanks for reverting here [10] and making that user provide sources. Someone963852 (talk) 02:04, 25 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Someone963852: No problem, I have reverted the article to before the changes, left a comment on Aboutbo2000's talk page and requested full page protection [11]. Hope this helps. Cheers, - FlightTime (open channel) 02:42, 25 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Edit on Brendan Fraser should be reinstated. Article is from a major publication, GQ, which also publishes corrections (see, e.g., https://www.gq.com/story/trump-calls-for-death-penalty [updated story with edit at end of the article]). Further, article is based on an in-person interview with Fraser himself, with photos. Accordingly source is reliable.

Additional corroboration of Fraser's ownership of property in Bedford, NY, can be found in court documents (e.g. https://caselaw.findlaw.com/ct-superior-court/1662208.html), as confirmed in the New York Post (https://nypost.com/2013/02/11/ex-digging-for-mummy/). One-Off Contributor (talk) 15:05, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

@One-Off Contributor: It's also non-notable trivia. If you want it in the article you should seek consensus on the article's talk page. Cheers, - FlightTime (open channel) 19:11, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Edit is not trivial in any colloquial sense of the term (or at least, not any more trivial than facts concerning the personal life of any other actor--and given the prevalence of discussion of these issues on other actors' Wikipedia pages, it would seem to not warrant exclusion on grounds of triviality). I proposed this edit on article's talk page, with no responses or objections, so I believe consensus exists to support the edit. If you wish to discuss further, please move discussion to article's talk page.One-Off Contributor (talk) 18:00, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Turns out Gilligan's Planet actually did have 13 episodes and aired until December 11, 1982. They stopped airing the re-runs in September 1983. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.112.140.2 (talk) 15:59, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Not ideal

Hi, FlightTime! I've declined your request for full protection on Vietnam Veterans Memorial. It looks to me like your conduct was unbecoming of an OTRS member and for the life of me, I just can't understand why you did that. The IP removed content with a well-articulated reasoning explaining that the content had failed verification. I'm sure you're aware by now that unsourced content can be challenged and removed per WP:V. Your rationale for re-adding it made no sense both times. You said "Wikipedia is not governed by what other sites do", which had nothing to do with the IP's reason for removal. Even if you misunderstood their original edit summary, they directly asked for a source per WP:BURDEN in their second edit summary, and they were correct to do so from a policy perspective. The burden to provide a source is on the editor who adds or re-adds challenged content. Instead of providing one, as was specifically your responsibility, you reinstated challenged content without a source, and falsely claimed "Your the one removing it, it's your burden to support the reason". This is something I would not even hesitate to block a less established editor over. I invite you to self-revert or to add your sources. @INeedSupport: this goes for you as well. Hi Flight time, My issue with a fellow editor on the historicity of jesus page has been resolved. I explained my motivation for my edit to the page, but it turns out he reverted it because I did not provide an edit summary. In my latest edit I did include it thus resolving the issue. Can you please revert your latest reversion? Kuririn45 (talk) 17:50, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Doug Weller and Tgeorgescu: Would you like to comment on this ? - FlightTime (open channel) 17:57, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Kuririn45: I said take it to the talk page. Sure, I said edit summaries are required. But that's necessary (IMHO), not sufficient. Please get agreement on the article talk page before restoring your edit. Doug Weller talk 18:00, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm FlightTime. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Eddie Van Halen, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! - FlightTime (open channel) 18:04, 20 May 2018 (UTC)

My answer: The nation of Indonesia did not yet exist at all in 1914, at the time the mother of Alex and Eddie van Halen was born. At that time, it was a Dutch colony called Dutch East Indies (or Netherlands Indies) until 1949.

I am of mixed dutch-east indian / eurasian ancestry myself so i know what i am talking about. please do not keep on reverting my small corrections. and why have i been imposed an ip block ban ??? Marcel.Vermeer (talk) 18:49, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hey

I saw you last messages, and I don't really understand the basis of the warnings. The fist one was about "Disruptive editing", which means pattern of editing that may extend over a long time or many articles, and you point out my only edit on the Gwyneth Paltrow article; I guess that by "your personal analysis or synthesis into articles", you mean the "career decline" change I did... She, in fact, during that period kind of had a career slump (taking on supporting roles in independent films, and starring in box ofice flops and limited released films); the first paragraph resumes that.

The second warning was about the same, this time with the Michelle Pfeiffer article; As with the previous page, I only did one change –literally just put on a synonym for 'definitive', which actually sounds more like a personal analysis or synthesis, and added Dangerous Minds, after her film production company is mentioned. The 'most notably' sentence is due to the fact that the film was her comprany's highest-grossing film.

I love writing about this kind of stuff in a fact-checked, encyclopedian way and the fact that I don't have an account does not mean I don't have the same interests as you regarding wikipedia. I love to help and add new content to the platform, and everyone involved in the same porpuse should be open to that. 190.249.179.87 (talk) 23:53, 21 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

A message from 179.216.180.116

Rush is a band, the fact that the members may not tour again doesn't mean the band is over or not. They said they can make records again and even small concerts. Even a major tour is possible, nobody knows that. There is NO source that the band is over. So they are still a band. They are talking about not touring anymore, and not to stop playing. They said they can make another record. So, again, the band is not over.

Penn addition

The change you have reverted twice is very small yet significant [12][13].

Only 5 words of content were added, then a book source. What's your objection? There are websites that say they dated [14][15][16]. Iistal (talk) 01:28, 25 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

A message from Joechuckles

My apologies for making changes to Gunny Ermey's page without discussion - this is my first edit to Wikipedia. I am a Marine Corps Disabled Veteran and noticed several errors or points to clarify. Gunny Ermey was indeed promoted to Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt), as shown in several official photographs (including one on his page). The title is not considered Honorary like "Citizen of the Day" or "Honorary Police Officer" which carry no official duties or privileges. The term Honorary was used because as a retiree/disabled Veteran, he could not be promoted Meritoriously. It was the Commandant's way of showing his appreciation for all that Gunny contributed not only to Marines, but all Americans. In the military, once you are promoted, you are no longer referred to by your former rank. Marines are formal and picky about details, and in my view the page was incorrect, and I wanted to make clarification, especially in light of the Gunny's recent death. Thank you, Joe. Joechuckles (talk) 04:26, 26 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Joechuckles: Not a problem. If you have a reliable source to support your claim, then all is good. Cheers, - FlightTime (open channel) 15:45, 26 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

You don’t need a source for that, they’re a rock band, they played too much in other genres. Sixty Minute Limit (talk) 12:43, 17 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hard rock band? Sixty Minute Limit (talk) 12:45, 17 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

They were a pioneer in neoclassical metal and power metal, while also playing heavy metal, before shifting into hard rock, they’re hard rock and heavy metal, wich are genres of rock, and through Wikipedia’s guidelines, they opening genre has to be vague. Plus is not edit warring, I edited once, then you reverted me, wich, you should know out of all people, is not edit warring and would be considerd a good faith edit.Reply

@Sixty Minute Limit: If that is how you feel then you need to discuss your concerns first, that's what talk pages are for. - FlightTime (open channel) 12:56, 17 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

So what you’re saying is to go to all of the album’s talk pages, say theyr’re rock, wait for a respond, wich is almost impossible because almost no one visits the talk pages, and have discussion in all of their albums to determine wether they’re hard rock or rock?

@Sixty Minute Limit: Yes, that's exactly what I am saying. If that is impossible for you then maybe Wikipedia is not for you. - FlightTime (open channel) 13:05, 17 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
You’re edit on industrial metal is completely incorrect, those fusion genres are real, they have sections, and in the case of digital hardcore, it has a page.

You don’t need conscencus for that, they’re mentioned on the page. And in digital hardcore, it has it’s own page.

All of those fusion genres of industrial metal are real genres mentioned in their sections/pages.

@Sixty Minute Limit: Look, I'm not going to argue with you all day. Either stop changing genre to your liking with out discussion or get blocked. Good day, - FlightTime (open channel) 13:09, 17 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
