ROUND 8 WP:UNI/COTF
The current University Collaborations of the Fortnight are: | ||
---|---|---|
Editor Nominated Topic | Kennesaw State University | |
B-Class Improvement Drive | Columbia University | |
Start/Stub Improvement Drive | Chulalongkorn University | |
Every fortnight three higher education-related topics, stubs, or red linked articles are chosen for you to improve. Be bold! |
OK... so Columbia's a B-class article looking at FA nomination. Let's see if we can push it through FAN! Leslie
I was thinking of putting Leslie and Kyle into the TOS minor recurring characters, I'd say they deserve a mention. I'm trying to tidy up a few redirects I made, so if I don't get around to it soon please feel free to create their entries Alastairward (talk) 17:24, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Actually scrub that, I see you were kind enough to leave an edit history of the old Leslie article in my talk page, so I took the material over to the recurring characters' article Alastairward (talk) 17:50, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- The memory alpha article is pretty good, he returned to duty after the cloud creature in Obsession killed him! Alastairward (talk) 22:08, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Fort Worth University
I noticed that you had asked about Fort Worth University on the University of North Texas talk page. I saw it just now, did a bit of research, and answered your question. I also updated the D.M. Smith article with the info and a proper reference. Brianreading (talk) 08:00, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- That's incredible! —Disavian (talk/contribs) 21:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Mr Kyle
You kindly put a link on my talk page for the edit history of Leslie (Star Trek). I was wondering where you got this from? I used it to take the information from the article before it was redirected. I'd like to do the same with Mr Kyle, how can I find this out? Alastairward (talk) 22:14, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I knew that Leslie (Star Trek) was the original location of that article, so I went to the redirect and looked at its page history to before it was changed from a page to a redirect. Where was the article for Mr Kyle located? —Disavian (talk/contribs) 22:39, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- I was able to find a Memory Alpha article about him: Kyle. I don't think there's ever been an en-wiki article about him. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 22:43, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Image:SWARM GT vs Clemson 2006.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:SWARM GT vs Clemson 2006.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:SWARM GT vs Clemson 2006.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of Lib Sh
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Lib Sh, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Potatoswatter (talk) 06:02, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

If you are going to revert people's edits, it would be nice to provide some type of rationale, or at least an edit summary. --Eustress (talk) 04:10, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
- Was using the autogenerated popups summary, sorry. You were performing a copy-and-paste move, which doesn't preserve the page history. If you want to move a page to somewhere else (and, say, a redirect already exists there) then you need to request that move at WP:RM. However, your move here wouldn't be uncontroversial, so you'd need to have some discussion before it could be moved. Personally, I'm fairly certain that all of the history/university articles (regardless of the school's official inclusion of 'The') use the lowercase variant. Why I care about that so much, I have no idea :p Hope that was helpful. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 16:41, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

As a previous active contributor of WP:UNI/COTF...
We are starting WP:UNI/COTM, please review the ten randomly selected nominees and vote for the articles you wish to improve. A new round of Collaboration of the Month is about to begin!
The current University Collaborations of the Month is University of California, Berkeley |
||
Every month a B-Class higher education-related topic is chosen for you to improve. Be bold! |
Yes, it's that time! A new article has been chosen our COTM next month.
Here's something I want to try, start treating it as a peer review. Start by skimming through the article, making sure the article fits our article guidelines. Then review for content: any copyvio, notability issues, reference listings, following the Manual of Style. Again, let's make sure we stick to the objectives listed on WP:UNI/COTM. Feel free to use the talk page of the article or COTM page to reflect or express opinions on how to make this program even better. Feel free to utilize #wikipedia-en-robotics connect if you wish, that channel doesn't get used enough and I'm usually there if I'm near a computer.
And here's something even more radical. See if you can attract authors currently maintaining the different COTM articles to join our WikiProject and better yet, our COTM project. I found when I started this program, jumping ships and editing other universities' articles was a big leap, but it's been very fun so far. I'd like to see more people actively participating.
Let's start off the new COTM program the right way. I want to see those articles in GA and FA soon. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving holiday and enjoy those Black Friday deals. - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ guestbook ♦ contribs 09:13, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Calvin Johnson (American football) under GA review
Hi there, I see that you are a primary contributor to the article Calvin Johnson (American football). This article has come under review for Good article reassessment as part of GA Sweeps and a number of problems have been identified which are listed on the talk page. Please begin to address these points in the next seven days or the article will be delisted from GA and will have to go through the WP:GAN process all over again to regain its status once improvements have been made. If you have any questions, please drop me a line.--Jackyd101 (talk) 18:12, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

No content in Category:Journalism disambiguation pages
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Journalism disambiguation pages, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Journalism disambiguation pages has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Journalism disambiguation pages, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. You need to read WP:OWN. There is a clear consensus that lyrics are not appropriate for Wikipedia aritcles (see Wikipedia:Centralized discussion/Fight songs and WP:NOT#LYRICS). Please do not re-add them. Stifle (talk) 09:06, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- I don't see any consensus. I was saying that the lyrics were justifiable given the other content of the article that references them. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 23:54, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- This is not a WP:OWN issue. In my opinion, Stifle mis- or over interpreted both WP:NOT#LYRICS and the "consensus" when he closed the discussion. Not only that, it contradicts WP:SONG#LYRICS. There clearly needs to be an additional discussion to reverse this per WP:CCC.
