Moving Katherine of Bosnia, Countess of Cilli

I was wondering if it would be better to move this to Katherine of Bosnia (1332-1385) or Katherine of Bosnia (d. 1385) because Countess of Cilli was her consort title not one that she held in her own right. If Katherine was the sister of Hungarian queen Elizabeth, she would be born in circa 1332 or 1334 and died 21 March 1385 according to this. I don't know if you know this or not but I notice you didn't put in date of birth or death. --Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy (talk) 11:17, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Wait why didn't you just make it on Katherine of Bosnia?
Consort titles are sometimes used for disambiguation (e.g. Mary Tudor, Queen of France, and other queens of France). Katherine of Bosnia, Countess of Cilli is certainly better than Katherine of Bosnia (1332-1385), because the dates of her birth and death are uncertain - uncertain being an understatement, because none of the tertiary sources you use cite secondary sources. 21 March 1385 is the date of her husband's death, not her death. Surtsicna (talk) 15:58, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunatly, David, I haven't came across an image of the seal. I've searched long for it when I was creating Bosnian Wikipedia's article about Catherine. Regarding dispensations, they were needed for marrying in-laws as well; Henry VIII of England, for example, wasn't allowed to marry his sister-in-law until dispensation was granted and his marriage was a big problem even after though dispensation was granted. Oh, if you want to be even more confused by Catherine, read this: I've found a 19th-century book (whose author is a respected Croatian historian) about Catherine which states that she is daughter of Ban and King Tvrtko I of Bosnia (whom other sources identify as her brother or cousin)! However, we can easily dismiss that book; other historians and most people with common sense argue that, since he was 23 years old when Catherine got married and 24 when she gave birth to her first child, Tvrtko simply didn't have time to conceive Catherine. Yet it is amusing how mysterious this woman is! Surtsicna (talk) 16:45, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

I found the image of Elizabeth and Mary on the Internet. It's a 19th-century depiction of the two queens in captivity. I wasn't really working on Casimir III's wives; I've just divided a section in sub-secions and created a redirect for his last wife because I hated the red link on Elizabeth of Bosnia article :) I know nothing about Casimir's wives, but I suppose we could find out something about Hedwig. I've started gathering information about Elizabeth of Serbia here. I would help you create a page about Catherine of Hungary, Queen of Serbia. Serbian Wikipedia could have some information and I speak Serbian at near-native level :D Surtsicna (talk) 11:18, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Oh, by the way, I think you'll be interested in two women who were regarded as heiresses presumptive to the throne of Hungary - Elizabeth, Princess of Taranto and Achaea, and her cousin Catherine. The former was niece of Elizabeth of Bosnia, while the latter was Elizabeth of Bosnia's eldest daughter. Surtsicna (talk) 13:22, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Elizabeths

I haven't realized how important Elizabeth of Bosnia is for the history of Hungary until I started reading about her. She was far from kind fairy-tale princesses; she was a mother who fought for her daughters' rights and a "forceful but ruthless politician". I've found books that appear to contain lots of information about Elizabeth of Serbia's political activities during the reign of her son, but I don't have full access to those books. It's a shame because she appears to have influenced her son significantly and was politically active herself. Surtsicna (talk) 19:08, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Catherine probably wasn't alive at that point, as many Serbian queens exercised more power as dowagers than they did as consorts; they were involved in charities and many joined monasteries which made them popular among the people. Elizabeth of Kuyavia's mother is unknown; Elizabeth's brother was Władysław the White. All the sources I've encountered using Google Book Search mention that "Elizabeth bore three daughters in a row: Catherine, Mary, and Hedwig". They do not mention the Mary which Medieval Lands mention. As Medieval Lands doesn't cite any source which proves her existance, we should probably avoid mentioning her. Surtsicna (talk) 19:32, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Don't trust those websites, especially when they cite no sources whatsoever. How could Elizabeth of Bosnia be a possible great-grandmother of anyone when her only grandchild died less than a month after she was born? Surtsicna (talk) 14:11, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Jadwiga of Żagań

Hi Daaviiid. I recently read your article and it's great. I work now in the expansion of Mieszko I of Poland, watch it and tell me your opinion. Thanks Aldebaran69 (talk) 04:34, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Maria of Bohemia

Don't know if your busy or not but if your interested you might take a gander at this article I created. I'm really bad at creating biographies as you can see. It seems your good at Eastern European royalties.--Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy (talk) 03:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Take a look at my new article. Do you know anything about the House of Luxembourg? Do you think I should call them House of Luxembourg-Namur House of Luxembourg-Limburg like that? Technically none of them were really agnatically part of the House of Luxembourg. Luxembourg-Ardennes was the call the elder house and the original House of Luxembourg. The other two branches were female lines. --Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy (talk) 10:55, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah I found it on the Wikipedia Commons. The other more common picture Margaret of Brabant was cropped a little too wide so I decided to use another one. --Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy (talk) 12:20, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Elizabeth of Kuyavia

I've removed some information which did not concern Elizabeth of Kuyavia. The article is pretty good! If you come across any information using Google Book Search, add it as a reference! You could start with searching for information which are already in the article and then cite books which give that mention. Also, if (eg) Medieval Lands cite a source for a certain information, you should cite that source rather than Medieval Lands because Medieval Lands is a tertiary and unreliable source. Surtsicna (talk) 11:56, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Casimir of Kuyavia

Hi Daaviiid. I just little busy fixed the article of Mieszko I, but I promise to began to create and improved the article of Casimir of Kuyavia in the next day. Please aske me any doubt you have. Thanks and sorry for my bad english!! Aldebaran69 (talk) 04:17, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Camilla Martelli

I think she wasn't count as Grand Duchess was because she was a morganatic spouse. PS. Do you know anything about Georgian consorts?--Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy (talk) 20:13, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Another great article, David!

Your latest article is excellent, David, and well researched. Congratulations. Does Euphrosyne have many descendants alive today?--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 07:37, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Their father was also Duke of Kalisz and the sisters are known as "XX of Kalisz" (try Google Book Search). I was following the line of descent from Euphrosyne of Opole and I was amazed how many lines died out. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that the only descendants of Euphrosyne are the descendants of her granddaughter Kunigunde of Poland. Surtsicna (talk) 15:42, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

I think Jadwiga of Kalisz should be moved to Hedwig of Kalisz because no reliable source refers to her as Jadwiga of Kalisz (or Jadwiga of Greater of Poland), while at least one reliable source refers to her as Hedwig of Kalisz and that's Encyclopedia of the Middle Ages. Surtsicna (talk) 17:47, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

It doesn't matter how she is known in Polish, as this is Wikipedia in English. Unfortunatly, Medieval Lands is a tertiary source and as such it is unreliable (however, information sourced by secondary sources in English are reliable). For example, Medieval Lands refers to Isabella I of Castile as Isabel, although English-language sources clearly use the name Isabella more often. Surtsicna (talk) 18:05, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Elizabeth of Bosnia's daughter seems to be known as Jadwiga in English, while her ancestress is known as Hedwig; usage is important. I would, for example, refer to Hedwig of Kalisz as Jadwiga in the article about Jadwiga of Poland so that readers know that they were namesakes - I would also refer to Jadwiga of Poland as Hedwig in the article about Hedwig of Kalisz. What do you think? Surtsicna (talk) 18:16, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

So, can I move the article back? Surtsicna (talk) 18:41, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

I am working on moving Bona's stepdaughter to the proper title - Hedwig Jagiellon (1513–1573). See Talk:Jadwiga Jagiellon (1513–1573) and User:Surtsicna/Hedwig Jagiellon (1513–1573). Surtsicna (talk) 19:31, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello David and thanks for your reply.I have been doing well what about you buddy.--HENRY V OF ENGLAND (talk) 22:10, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

David, have you ever checked out Miroslav Marek's site? He has a lot of info on Bohemian royalty. Just do a Google search with the name Miroslav Marek and his site will come up.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 11:20, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Miroslac Marek claims that Tvrtko II of Bosnia was married to a niece of Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor. I've already found a reliable source which claims that the Republic of Dubrovnik wrote letters to the queen of Bosnia, wife of King Tvrtko II, in 1404. The source mentions her parent's name, but I can't see the name unless I buy the book or guess the name on my own. So, I need your help, David. Which of Sigismund's siblings and half-siblings had marriageable daughters in 1404?
Unfortunatly, Miroslav Marek's site cannot be used a source for Wiki articles, as it is not a reliable source. Besides, I've found numerous factual mistakes; for example, no historian disputes that Dorothy Garai was Queen of Bosnia as the second wife (1428-1438) of Tvrtko II. Better a belated birthday wish than nothing! hehe - Sorry, I wasn't in Cork on Friday - something crazy happened. Hope you had a nice day! -- Jack1755 (talk) 20:28, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Happy belated birthday! When was it? Surtsicna (talk) 21:27, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Happy anniversay of your day of birth. Here's a Groucho classic line: "Hello room service? send me up a larger room". GoodDay (talk) 22:17, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Well, it will be easy to remember your birthday. Regarding my kitty, she is a hunter too. We always find pigeon feathers and at least one dead mouse or rat (or whatever is left from them) every week. I feel sorry for the pigeons, but they poop in my yard too much :D Surtsicna (talk) 10:34, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

I have a pet pigeon. My cat Tony would love to get his claws (and teeth) into that bird. Luckily the pigeon always manages to escapes from Tony's tigerish leaps.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 08:19, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Elizabeth of Serbia

This is what I managed to find about her. Few secondary sources mention her and some of those mention that she was regent, although briefly. She was surely very powerful and significant, but we need more information. Try using Google Book Search; perhaps you'll have more luck when searching about her than I did. Surtsicna (talk) 17:59, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Yes, but I still have no access to it. I've found another book that mentions the name of the father of her grandson's first wife, but the line is broken just when it says "daughter of..." Being so near vital information, but unable to see it, is very frustrating. Surtsicna (talk) 18:19, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
There are ways to access the book: I could buy it or I could wait several decades for the book to fall into public domain. I'm sure you'll agree that buying a book just to read one word of it doesn't make sense. Surtsicna (talk) 18:28, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Precisely what you said: they were actually locked-up baby-bearing machines. Why don't you expand some of the existing articles about more significant women? I'm sure there are Holy Roman Empresses and German queens who do not have their article and there are even more of them whose articles are disgracefully short. I'm currently expanding the article about the Habsburg heiress Maria Theresa of Austria, Holy Roman Empress & German Queen, sovereign of Hungary and Bohemia. Surtsicna (talk) 18:52, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Nicole Scherzinger image

Sorry about that: it looked me like another random changing of the image, which has been done quite a lot recently. I suggest that in future, when changing an image, give a explanation to changing the image, and perhaps consider moving the previous one further down the article so it can still be utilized. I'm sorry for anything on my part that bothered you. Best. Acalamari 18:54, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

They look fine, though you should change "Nicole" in both captions to "Scherzinger" to keep how she's referred to consistent with the rest of the article (remember that we refer to people by their last names, as using their first names imply that we know them on a first-name basis). With the Dolls third album, I've heard rumors, but they're not anything I would want to add to the article, and nothing appears to be confirmed at the moment. Best. David, I gave you advice in your sandbox. The article needs to be cut down, as much of it doesn't make sense. As I said, just summarise the crime and the inderdict. There are some articles about medieval French heiresses that should be created. I've ust created the article about Adelaide, Countess of Vermandois. Hi David, I have just created a new article which I know you'll like: Agnes de Launcekrona. What do you think?--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 10:03, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

A Nightmare for David

  • The Pussycat Dolls never got together
  • The UK became a republic
  • The only music that ever featured in the UK chart was bad rap music
  • We were even more involved with the EU (oh wait that one's come true)
  • The Tudors never existed
  • Waking up and remembering that I need to get up and go to school
  • Not such thing as pasta (my favourite food)
  • IP Users doing whatever they want
  • The House of Piast and the Přemyslid dynasty never existed, I'd lose half of my articles--David (talk) 17:12, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
I hate pastsa. lol. I can relate to republicanism and Europe, though. -- Jack1755 (talk) 18:27, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
I am not familiar with The Pussycat Dolls. Which are their most popular songs; then perhaps I might be able to place them? My daughter Tatiana is a huge fan of Lady Gaga (whom I also like), but she's never mentioned the Pussycat Dolls.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 10:15, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Duchess Swinisława of Pomerania

Hi David. Thanks for your support and your good words. About the wife of Duke Mestwin I, in almost all the sources I consulted she never appears; according to sources, she probably belonged to a Gdansk or Russian noble family, of course, this wasn't discarted his parentage with the Piast dynasty, but is better to maintain Swinisława's parentage as unknown. If you can correct the article is great. Thanks again for your support and sorry for my bad english!!! Aldebaran69 (talk) 18:58, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Well, I continue to work with the High Dukes of Poland and his consorts (at least one more generation) and later began to complete and create articles about Mieszko III's descendants (I create articles since eldest to youngest descendants of Boleslaw III). Aldebaran69 (talk) 19:05, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Of course, that is the purprose of my work, but I've decided to made the correction in chronological order, from oldest to youngest descendants. Aldebaran69 (talk) 19:12, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Sure! all help is very welcome for me. Thanks!!! Aldebaran69 (talk) 19:29, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Great!! thanks a lot!!!! Aldebaran69 (talk) 19:35, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Maria of Bosnia

Are you in a mood for another medieval lady whose parentage is a mystery? I was searching for information about Maria of Bosnia, Countess of Helfenstein. She seems to have been important, as many German language sources mention her (see these books, these books, these books and these books). Our article about the House of Helfenstein mentions her and so does German Wiki's article about the House of Helfenstein. She was married to Ulrich X, Count of Helfenstein. Her father was a son of Stephen I, Ban of Bosnia, but who was he? Stephen I had three sons: Stephen II, Vladislav and Ninoslav. Was Maria a sister of Queen Elizabeth of Hungary or a sister of Countess Catherine of Cilli or a sister of King Tvrtko I of Bosnia or a sister of King Stephen Dabiša of Bosnia? She was (half)sister of some of these people and first cousin of the others. Medieval Lands claims that she was a daughter of Ninoslav (who might have been the father of Dabiša). German Wiki's article claims that she was a sister of Tvrtko I (thus daughter of Vladislav). 19th-century German books claim that she was a sister of the wife of King Louis I of Hungary (thus daughter of Stephen II and sister of Catherine). Do you know someone who speaks German? It would be nice if we knew what those books are saying. Surtsicna (talk) 16:12, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi David, sorry if I can't help you but my knowledge of German is little. Good look in your investigation!!!. Aldebaran69 (talk) 19:07, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi David, I just finished the article about Anastasia, Duchess of Pomerania. I hope you like the work.
