Location in infobox

edit

Please undo the deletion of recording location info: https://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Passage_du_Desir&diff=1235395172&oldid=1234543375 E.g. as someone from Indiana, I know that Nashville, Indiana exists. There's no reason to assume that others will know where a location is, so there's no reason to remove this useful information. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 08:56, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

If the recording studio is in Nashville, Indiana, we add a link to Nashville, Indiana. The studio in question is located in Nashville, Tennessee, which, based on what I have witnessed with album articles, is a city widely known enough to not require a link in the infobox (part of the guidelines in Template:Infobox album). As a result of this, it does not seem necessary to include the state in the infobox, a practice that helps limit the amount of bloat in an album infobox. A web browser search only yields results for Nashville, Tennessee, so a reader will be able to figure this out with a simple search – better yet, expand the prose to include information about the recording and include "Nashville, Tennessee" in there for the reader to understand. As far as the infobox goes, however, it does not seem necessary to me. Nobody is assuming "Nashville, Indiana" or elsewhere while reading this article, just like how nobody is assuming "London, Ontario" when they see Abbey Road. Aria1561 (talk) 15:17, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
It is also not necessary to remove this information. Please restore it. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 17:16, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not restoring anything without a valid reason, and I have yet to be given one. Aria1561 (talk) 18:32, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Nothing in the infobox documentation or at WP:ALBUMSTYLE says to remove this information, so it was not necessary to remove it and including it is useful for context. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 18:54, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Nothing also says to include it. I find it useful to condense an album infobox as much as possible without compromising any encyclopedic content, which is being achieved here and following precedents set by many album articles with either featured or good article status (a good benchmark to use for Nashville in particular is the Taylor Swift studio albums featured topic). At the end of the day, it's more of a stylistic choice of the user who wrote the majority of the article, which in this case is you. If you feel so strongly about this stylistic choice then I don't exactly wield a lot of power in this case. Regardless, I added a section in the article prose dedicated to the album's background and recording, where I made mention of Nashville, Tennessee, in full. You are free to determine whether that is a sufficient compromise or not. Aria1561 (talk) 19:51, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
You're just refusing. Okay. Thanks for your edits and explanations. Have a nice day. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 19:54, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I am maintaining my integrity as an editor and going off of what I know and am familiar with. I have no particular obligation to follow your demands, and I can certainly do without your attitude and your accusations. Best wishes. Aria1561 (talk) 20:02, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
What accusations? So weird. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 20:09, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Claiming that I'm "just refusing" as if I am purposely being difficult with you. Not to mention that I already told you that typing out "Nashville, Tennessee" in the infobox can sometimes be a stylistic choice that, in this case, is in your hands to decide. Yet despite that you wish to paint me as being difficult as if I don't have my own editing experience to go off of. If anything your repeated pushing to make me satisfy your demands despite all that is the weird thing. Aria1561 (talk) 20:13, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not alleging that you're purposefully being difficult. Have a nice life. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 20:15, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
You are correct that if the city is a recognizable place such as "Nashville" where it is obvious which one is being referenced, then you need not worry about it being somehow confused for some irrelevant place that shares its name. This user has a history of being difficult for the sake of being diffuclt so don't be alarmed by his stubbornness and keep up the good work! CloversMallRat (talk) 21:51, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
