Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in, but you may wish to create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits. If you edit without a username, your IP address (157.166.167.129) is used to identify you instead.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on this page. Again, welcome!   You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at Les Montgomery. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. 79.181.9.76 (talk) 06:06, 24 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Patterns as first-class objects

edit

Thanks for your edit to the SNOBOL article. What modern languages have patterns in the SNOBOL sense as objects? Many languages support regexps (and typically treat them as a separate data type, but as a string), but that is a small subset of the SNOBOL pattern concept. --Macrakis (talk) 17:20, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to List of United States presidential assassination attempts and plots, but we cannot accept original research. Original research also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. You recently re-added material to the article without consensus. Consensus had been created to remove that material. Ryan Vesey Review me! 01:25, 5 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thom Jurak argues that the absence of Fisher's guitar work was evident on the band's subsequent albums.<ref> But who cares, because there is no one named Thom Jurak. A guy named Thom Jurek, who writes about music, had an opinion, though. Yet again, proof that Wikipedia is not to be trusted. {{Citation |author=Jurek, Thom |title=Heart: Bebe le Strange: overview |journal=Allmusic |url=http://www.allmusic.com/album/bebe-le-strange-mw0000650242 |archiveurl=http://www.webcitation.org/69wGcqJTb |archivedate=August 16, 2012 }}</ref>

No, it's people like you who see a typo and make a smart-arse comment rather than fix it who are not to be trusted. Pdfpdf (talk) 12:26, 4 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add or significantly change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to History of capitalism. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Kate Riley has been reverted.
Your edit here to Kate Riley was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline.
