First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy restored the Resolute desk. The Oval Office was undergoing redecoration at the time of Kennedy's assassination. Redecorations included white drapery, which was retained by Lyndon B. Johnson and a red rug, which was removed shortly after Kennedy's death.[4] |
