Reason: Persistent disruptive editing by IPs and new users. Johnj1995 (talk) 00:24, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

Reason: Good day! I am writing to request protection or semi-protection of the Rice and peas page. I am not the creator of the page, but I am a contributor who has invested a lot of time and effort to improve the page. Almost all of the page was written by me, and almost all of the images were added by me, most of which are my personal photos. However, the following users: 2601:147:4700:2000:418A:557A:92B3:8437 and 68.33.255.195, who I believe to be the same user, affiliated with the Rice and beans page has been deliberately removing info. I have a background in Caribbean Studies, History and Food & Nutrition, and the dish concerns my country/region, and history. I have researched the subject thoroughly, and have contributed personal pics for illustrations and clarity, and I have made sure to be inclusive of all variations I have direct knowledge about. There are differences between "rice and beans" and " rice and peas" dishes, but the aforementioned user seems to be unaware of this, and for unknown reasons have been constantly removing a section of the "rice and peas" page which details the history of variations in Central America. I would like to complete editing the page, but I am discouraged by the constant attack from the said user(s). On this premise, I am asking for assistance. Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Move protection was never really needed because there is no history of bad moves. Unprotection is needed because the page should be (uncontroversially) moved to match the sentence case of the other Merseyrail/Merseytravel and also to follow how Transport for London underground and overground lines are named. 10mmsocket (talk) 11:10, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Right then. I've looked at the previous decline and the related NPR discussion. I guess the message has already been sent that being open and transparent at the time of the application is good and needed. I've checked the last ten articles and they were all of clean nature.   Done Schwede66 01:16, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

Dear Wikipedia admins, at User:Pbritti's kind suggestion I'm requesting autopatrol rights to help reduce the NPP backlog a little. I've been a Wikipedia editor for almost 20 years, and although dormant most of that time, have been involved in the WikiProject Plants stub-to-start drive for most of this year and have also created around 40 new Start-quality articles for species in the Aquilegia genus (plus a couple of related articles) in that time. I'm short of 3,000 edits requirement (currently at 2,400). I request page-moving rights as I'm encountering problems when reviewing new pages. Specifically, I face issues leaving redirects to (bad) pages I move to the draft space. Page-moving rights would help prevent redirects from being flagged for speedy deletion. @Anuwrites: If you use the MoveToDraft script, it will automatically tag the move redirect for deletion, at which point it takes little work for an admin to check and delete the redirect (with no additional work for you). The script will also show a warning if you try draftifying an article within an hour of its last edit despite WP:NPPHOUR, as happened in this move yesterday. And it will leave a notification on the talk page of the article's creator, which you should be doing as explained at WP:DRAFTNOTIFY. Based on that, there isn't sufficient cause to make an exception to the guidelines for granting, plus your draftifications could still do with checking.   Not done. SilverLocust 💬 16:15, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
@SilverLocust Thank you for simplying the process for me, seems like I didn't need the right at this time, I installed the "MoveToDraft script" and it has done awesome on Draft:Hiroshi Suzuki (ambassador) page. This is all that I wanted, CIAO. ANUwrites 22:47, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

Reason for requesting pending changes reviewer rights: I am an active patroller of recent changes and quite often see awaiting pending changes; I would like to receive the permission to accept/deny changes. I also have a track record of reverting vandalism. jolielover♥talk 06:54, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

However, I mostly edit on my school computer so I am unable to use any tools such as Huggle, RedWarn, etc. Thank you for considering my request.

I have been reverting vandalism since I created my account. Although it appears I am a new user, I also have experience editing Wikipedia and reverting vandalism as an IP for many years (which I will not be disclosing due to security concerns). The rollback right will help me revert vandalism faster, which is why I am requesting it. PersonAccount 🐉 (talk) 20:08, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

PersonAccount, to be honest, no, it doesn't appear you are a new user. Which is okay if all previous activity was without having an account and without disruption. It will take longer than for other users until the trust for manually granting permissions is there in your case. It isn't yet, to me. Unless someone else grants rollback in the next week or so, I'll decline this with a recommendation not to ask for permissions until your account is a year old. Regarding rollback in particular, Twinkle and Ultraviolet will do just fine. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 02:11, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

I am finally starting to have a WP:CLUE, though I still deserve a good whack to the face with some WP:TROUT more often than I would like. While redwarn/UV is nice, it is not very fast to load diffs in the browser the way that I do at the moment (it is surprisingly resource intensive), and I think Huggle would help quite a bit along with reducing mistakes made as diffs would be clearer with less lag and more efficient resource usage. I have made mistakes, and will continue to make mistakes, but I find myself leaving more and more diffs untouched now that I realize more often when I don't have a WP:CLUE. Any advice is welcome, and advice on if I should still be using RedWarn or if there is some reason I should switch to UV would be welcome as well.   💬 04:16, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

Being able to mass-rollback would've come in handy the last few days when dealing with cleaning up after an editor who had made a mess with adding copyvio images across a large number of articles (on multiple occasions).
