The Academy Award for Best International Animated Feature (formerly Best Foreign Animated Feature prior to 2020) is an award for Animated features produced outside of the United States or outside of the English language. The category was made in response to foreign animated features crossing over the category for Best Animated Feature. The award was first introduced in 1973, and the first winner was Fantastic Planet.
