Portal parameter

edit

According to the project banner, the portal parameter should refer to some sub-page entry of the queue. Why are we to write just "portal=yes" to it? Shouldn't we mention the relevant subpage as well? — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 16:52, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I was not sure how the portal pages were organized. So just linked it to general pages. Please provide an example and I can update the template accordingly. - Ganeshk (talk) 17:05, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Have a look at Selected content summary page that I created for the Selected articles on Portal:India. It links to the summary of all the articles under WP:PINSA. A convenient way to find when an article was last featured/will be featured is to see the last parameter in the bracket, which is the last date of featuring. In fact, this also provides a convenient way to find out all the days in which the given article came on the portal page: just click "what links here" from the summary page of any article. The trouble is almost all articles have been once featured, the exception being for those selected very recently or those for whom a working summary is absent. — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 17:19, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removing redundant templates

edit

I have identified the following templates that have become redundant after the addition of WP India:

We can also deprecate the Indian portal related templates if we are able to integrate the infomation present in it with this template.

Is it okay to remove the above mentioned templates while adding the WP India template? — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 07:08, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I had done it here. I feel the same. Too many templates make the talk page cluttered. The new template mentions them anyway. - Ganeshk (talk) 16:15, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
There might be a problem. For example, WikiProject Indian cities prescribes guidelines (MoS, etc.) for the article. Replacing the template would make the guidelines virtually inaccessible to new users. — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 16:29, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Addition of other Wikiprojects in the templates

edit

I have added a couple of other Wikiprojects in the template. They are "Wikiproject Indian cinema" and "Wikiproject History of India". I wanted to know whether we should add all India related Wikiprojects to the template. What about those that are closely related but not completely related (like Wikiproject Hinduism)? — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 06:01, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Usage of portal parameter

edit

Why does the portal paramater has to be used in conjuction with "class=FA" only. — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 06:01, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

It does not have to to be used only with FA. It can be used by itself. Most FAs do get posted on the portal. So you see them all tagged. - Ganeshk (talk) 23:31, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I fixed the code so that it does not look for FA. Thanks for pointing that out. - Ganeshk (talk) 00:51, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Reg: Assessment

edit

(copied from User_talk:Ganeshk) Hi Ganesh,

Even as I was assessing the articles, I got into a dilemma. I thought it would be great to categorise the assessed articles by month (say, Categories: India Articles Quality Assessed in Oct 2006), so that we can go back to that category sometime later (may be three months) and reassess the article again.

I wanted to include a date stamp as well in the assessment section of the WP India Template, saying This article was rated -Class according to assessment criteria on so-and-so date.

I tinkered around with the WP India template to do both these tasks, i.e., categorising, and time-stamping. It should be small add-on only, yet, I wasn't sure about the naming conventions for the parameters expected in the Template, as well as how a change in the template will affect the current usage.

Could you help me fix them into the WP India template?? It would help very much in systematic assessment and re-assessment. Cheers -- Chez (Discuss / Email)22:50, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

That's a nice idea. I have not seen any other projects do that. Let me work on it and come up with a prototype. I will post here. -- Ganeshk (talk) 23:22, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Chez, I am ready with a prototype. Let me know if it's good. The template adds articles to the category, .

Usage:

Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 03:35, 27 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

It is really good. Please implement it yourself. Cheers -- Chez (Discuss / Email)05:52, 28 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Peer review

edit

There is a slight error in the template. When the parameter "peer-review=yes" is added to the template the red link that it generates is of the form request has been made. The colon shouldn't be there. I think this line - A request has been made - in the template coding is to blame. Can someone fix it? - Aksi_great (talk) 20:04, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

This template produces blank lines above it. You can see this at the top of this page (removing the blank line between templates does not remove the space), and it is somewhat unappealing. Another editor referred to the "unsightly space" in Talk:History of saffron. This space can be removed by combining some lines early in the template. If the beginning of the template, currently

Nesting fix

edit

Replace the contents of this template with the sandboxed version at User:Disavian/Sandbox/WP India. The change is that most nested templates tell you the article class while they are nested; currently, this template does not. • After all the subproject texts, there is
      <!--India-->
    • This should be replaced with:

  • I had removed the portal link to save space on the box, was trying to hide as much as I can to make the box smaller. As Thunderboltz points out above, many portals (within India project scope) may apply for a particular topic. Displaying the root one alone is not helpful IMO. Other projects don't display them too. Assessments by date

edit

Hi, this looks like the only project going around keep tracks of assessments by date. I really don't think that's particularly helpful as Category:India articles assessed by month is obviously missing a number of years. I would really suggest changing the template so that all the assessed article are in place, keeping the parameter and letting someone get a bot to figure it out fairly. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 04:02, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's purpose was to allow for revisiting the articles at a later time to revise the assessment. It is done manually by adding the "assess-date" parameter. Not sure why you want the template to be changed, since a bot could be written to fill the gaps. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 22:12, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Update

On the sandbox there is an updated version of this template using WPBannerMeta. I have carefully checked that it replicates all the current functionality. Would there be any concerns about using it? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:51, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I will give it a check to make sure all the functionality is available in the new template. Please give me some time. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 00:58, 8 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Certainly, let me know if you have any questions. The class mask for the template is held at Template:WP India/class; should be self-explanatory. The only minor difference is the move from Unassessed-Class to Unassessed. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 07:39, 8 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
I got a chance to test it. The new template does not seem to replicate all the functionality. Please check the categories on the following pages:
We do category intersection on the template that helps us build tables like this, Wikipedia:WikiProject_India/Assessment/Statistics. The new template is also not creating the main project's category and workgroup's main category (Example: Category:WikiProject Chennai articles). Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 02:58, 9 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Okay, wow, you like your categories! I've added the required functionality for India and Chennai. Before I do all the others can I just check some things:
  • Do all the subprojects use the quality/importance intersection categories?
  • I assume that you are not interested in the extra classes (e.g. Category-class) for this purpose? Just the standard FA-A-GA-B-C-Start-Stub-FL-List classes?
— Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:34, 9 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I like our categories...I think these project templates put too much emphasis on interface. :) If there is a way to hide the categories from the bottom of the talk page, that would be great.
Back to the testing: 1) yes, all sub-projects use quality/importance intersection categories. 2) category, template and extra classes do not use intersection...just the standard quality classes (FL, GA etc.).
I tested the category class, the new template is not ignoring the importance value. Please check the Template:WP India/sandbox/testcases again. Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 12:03, 9 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Okay, so the way importance is treated on these non-articles is as follows:
  • If no importance is specified, then NA-importance will automatically be used. (Therefore every article gets an importance and the following table will add up to the correct total.)
 Top  High  Mid  Low  NA  ??? Total
 319  3,066  12,068  183,241  56,270 8,451  263,415
  • If an importance is specified then this will be used. Therefore it is possible to have a High-importance category in case that is wanted.
Yes, categories could be hidden if desired by adding hidden cat to all of them. But usually there are not hidden. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:17, 9 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Okay that works for me. Please proceed with your changes. Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 21:54, 9 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
WOSlinker has kindly added all these categories now. Please can you check again? Also, is it desirable for taskforces to appear in the nested display, such as the maps project as shown below? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:07, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
The taskforce display when nested will be good. I would like to report a few things:
  1. I was surpised pre=yes worked in the new template. We had a big discussion with some Pakistani editors about the banner posting Indian flag to pre-Indepedence articles. The pre=yes was the neutral outcome of the discussion.
  2. If no class value is added, the new banner is automatically adding Template class. Is that a normal thing?
  3. We had customized the Indian banner a bit with the field parameter. This can used when you are not really starting a project, but would like to check the feasibility for one. Category:India articles using field parameter are the articles that are marked with this parameter. We got to decide what to with these.
  4. There are still some missing intersection categories that apply to NA importance.
Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 02:27, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

(outdenting)

  1. That's called attention to detail ;)
  2. On a template talk page, yes the banner will automatically deduce class=Template. Similarly with categories, portals and images.
  3. Hmm, I have added some support for {field} in the sandbox now. Do you really want the quality and importance assessment as well? Because it seems that most of the necessary categories don't exist. So I've disabled them for now. Do you also need field1, field2 and field3?
  4. I thought the NA categories were being supressed so I don't quite understand that. Maybe WOSlinker will be able to fix that.

Categories awry

edit

I happened to notice that the categories associated by adding this template seem to have gone awry. Please look into WP:IN1S and you will find all the totals columns have very low counts. These seem to come from the 'project level' categories, like Category:WikiProject Indian cities articles. I also noticed that the project level category is not found in the talk pages either even for the handful that are shown in the category.

Is this the new intended behaviour of this template? Should the statistics processing be changed to pick the totals by adding up individual counts? For example see the first one Category:WikiProject Indian geography articles - the content from this category shows a total of 27 on the statistics page. Moreover the talk pages do not show this category.

Hope the last two editors (admin) can look into this aspect. VasuVR (talk, contribs) 12:25, 31 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

That was created for "field=media" parameter. WP:IN1S is still not good. The sub-projects do not have a listing of categories, templates etc. They are all showing zeroes. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 02:11, 8 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I do not remember that working in the past either (last year and half). FYI and if that can help in figuring out the problem... VasuVR (talk, contribs) 02:59, 8 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I think there are some errors on that page. Certainly, the problem is not with the template. You know you can use parser functions instead of a bot to calculate these numbers? That means they are always up to date. For example, produces:
  FA  A  GABCStartStub  FLListCategoryDisambigDraftFilePortalProjectRedirectTemplateNA???Total
3051462732,5233,77622366609640327210410338,011
There is also a template which can handle category intersections, e.g. produces:
Andhra Pradesh
articles
Importance Refresh
 Top   High   Mid   Low  ???  Total
Quality   FA 0 0 1 2 0 8
  A 0 0 0 0 0 5
  GA 1 3 13 21 1 56
B 5 7 17 15 2 51
C 17 23 43 152 38 278
Start 9 74 234 1990 216 2529
Stub 1 35 156 3314 270 3782
  FL 0 0 0 2 0 7
List 1 6 92 125 11 239
??? 0 0 0 0 0 38
Total 44 159 584 5817 580 7184
Have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject India/Assessment/Statistics/new and see what you think. Unfortunately, there is a limit of 500 of these functions on one page, so the ones at the bottom are not working. It would be necessary to split this page. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:42, 8 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Looks good... I have a suggestion then. Split it in such a way that all the state task forces are moved to a separate page and the non-states items are in the main statistics page (and link from each page to the other). VasuVR (talk, contribs) 16:55, 10 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Education and railways parameters

edit

This template currently does not populate assessment categories for WikiProjects Education in India and Indian railways even if "education=yes" or "railyways=yes" are specified. Is this an accidental oversight or an intentional omission? I was prepared to edit the template but want to make sure that I would not be going against a project-level decision or consensus. Thank you, -- Black Falcon (talk) 05:46, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please see discussion in July above. It looks like the necessary categories have not been created, after which the template could be changed. VasuVR (talk, contribs) 06:25, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I had seen that discussion but wasn't sure if anything came of it in the intervening months. It appears that almost all of the requisite quality assessment categories exist, and it is the importance and quality-and-importance assessment categories that are missing. I will create them tomorrow (it's quite late where I am) and change the template as needed. Thank you for your clarifictation, -- Black Falcon (talk) 09:21, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Unassessed-Class

edit

There exists significant duplication within WikiProject India's category structure stemming from the fact that both 'Unassessed' and 'Unassessed-Class' categories are populated by this template—see e.g. Category:Unassessed India articles and Category:Unassessed-Class India articles.

I propose standardizing these categories to one usage, Unassessed {topic} articles, in order to:

  1. Establish consistency with nearly all other WikiProjects (see here);
  2. Ensure compatibility with various WikiProject-related templates, such as ;
  3. Eliminate tens of duplicate and empty assessment categories; and
  4. Simplify Template:WikiProject India by removing approximately 1,600 characters which are currently being used to append the '-Class' prefix to unassessed articles.

Please note that this change would not impact any other '-Class' categories, such as Category:Stub-Class India articles or Category:Start-Class West Bengal articles.

If there are no objections, I can modify this template, prompt User:Cydebot (a category creation bot) to perform all category name changes, and then manually carry out any necessary reorganization and updating of links. Thank you, -- Black Falcon (talk) 08:42, 19 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Good catch. The India level unassessed articles are tagged under Category:Unassessed India articles. The Category:Unassessed India articles contains only sub-categories. There seems to be no duplication of sub-categories - they either go in one or the other. Probably earlier editors had two different views and this has propagated as per individual preferences and no one yet has taken effort to put it under one. Your attempt would be the first in this case, I think. VasuVR (talk, contribs) 09:06, 19 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. :) You're right, of course... the duplication is not in the form of articles appearing in both categories (as you say, they either go in one or the other) but rather of two unassessed categories existing for each subproject: Category:Unassessed Hyderabad articles and Category:Unassessed-Class Hyderabad articles; Category:Unassessed West Bengal articles and Category:Unassessed-Class West Bengal articles; and so on. The 'Unassessed' categories tend to directly contain talk pages and the 'Unassessed-Class' categories tend to contain quality-and-importance subcategories, but I think they can be combined in the manner of, say, Category:GA-Class Indian history articles. -- Black Falcon (talk) 09:41, 19 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
My suggested modification of the template is now ready at Template:WikiProject India/sandbox. -- Black Falcon (talk) 20:08, 19 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
As there appear to be no objections, I will proceed with this change in next day or so. -- Black Falcon (talk) 00:08, 31 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Empty 'field' categories

edit

Are the following categories and their subcategories, all of which are empty, still needed?

They were created after this series of changes to the project banner enabled categorization of India articles by the field parameter, and were emptied in October 2009 when this template was standardized with Template:WPBannerMeta. Affected articles continue to be categorized within Category:India articles using field parameter. -- Black Falcon (talk) 00:36, 31 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Personally I'd like to see all of those in use (apart from the ones that have been superceded) - and as I've suggested elsewhere, you could throw in media, business, bio and culture as well. The less we have to use orphan the better. There's still 408 articles in Category:India articles using field parameter - for instance Talk:Indian bread uses |field=food.
Incidentally, I notice that the documentation includes language when it doesn't seem to be in the template, conversely it doesn't mention roads which does work. Also I can't see any code for group-portal(1-5), group-portal-list(1-5), group-portal-picture(1-5) as per the documentation unless they are transcluded from somewhere. PS Could the text for the auto parameter not have a reference to stubs - there's a bot about to start work on WPI articles that does more than just look at stub templates. More changes December 2012

edit

Added placement in sub-categories for chennai, mumbai, hyderabad and mangalore. Please copy text from sandbox --Traveler100 (talk) 09:30, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've looked at the proposed changes, and I'm afraid that they may break existing behaviour. Consider the addition of this code:
|TF_1_HOOK           = {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/cats
|category={¬}
|cat 1={{{needs-image|{}}}}
  |CAT_1 = Wikipedia requested photographs in Chennai
}}
However, immediately above that is the existing code:
|TF_1_HOOK = {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/qualimpintersect
  |class={}
  |importance={}
  |category={}
  |ASSESSMENT_CAT    = Chennai articles
  |BANNER_NAME       = Template:WikiProject India
  |UNASSESSED_APPENDIX= -Class
  |SUPPRESS_NA = yes
}}
The parameter |TF_1_HOOK= has been used twice, and so the second will override the first; as a result, categories like Category:Stub-Class Chennai articles of Low-importance (and those for all the other perutations of class/importance) will be depopulated. If you place the directly after the existing , as in
|TF_1_HOOK = {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/qualimpintersect
  |class={}
...
  |UNASSESSED_APPENDIX= -Class
  |SUPPRESS_NA = yes
}}{{WPBannerMeta/hooks/cats
|category={¬}
|cat 1={{{needs-image|{}}}}
  |CAT_1 = Wikipedia requested photographs in Chennai
}}
it should work as intended. The same applies for the other three new instances of . --Redrose64 (talk) 16:52, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
thanks for the advice. Template syntax is not the easiest language to learn. Would this however mean that non of the assessments would be working in the current template? Have updated all in the sandbox.--Traveler100 (talk) 18:58, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
I didn't check the portions which you hadn't intended to alter - I only looked at the Hyderabad problem (below), plus the four new chunks of code for image categories. I didn't look at anything else; but since you mention it, it's quite true: for example, as I type this, Category:Stub-Class Andhra Pradesh articles has 4,350 members, and Category:Low-importance Andhra Pradesh articles has 4,793 members, so you would expect that a fair proportion are in both. This is what we find: for example, Talk:Adivishnu is in both of those categories; but it should also be in Category:Stub-Class Andhra Pradesh articles of Low-importance, yet that is completely empty (as are almost all the other sub-cats of Category:Andhra Pradesh articles by quality and importance).
So yes, the same technique as I described above will be necessary for all the other taskforces where |TF_n_HOOK= was used twice. I see that you've amended the sandbox along those lines, so I think we're good to go now, so   Done. Don't expect that the categories will populate straight away though, the job queue is well over 1,000,000 at present. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:36, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! - Ninney (talk) 14:07, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
The second option you mention politics=yes is what we are supposed to use. I don't know of a "field" paramater. Pinging @Ugog Nizdast: for clarification. Kautilya3 (talk) 15:45, 25 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
If I understood correctly on what's going on, there isn't any "|field=" parameter in the Project template. There are only individual workgroups; all can be viewed at Template:WPINDIA. How it's categorised at /Navigation (Wikipedia:WikiProject India/Workgroups) seems to be arbitrary, and only the existing workgroups are linked there. -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 06:59, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
The Template Template:WikiProject India clearly mentions of a parameter called as Field parameter.
Described as: field(...field1, field2, field3) - allows for setting up statistics for subject areas even if a taskforce for the subject does not exist. The articles can be moved to the taskforce once it has been setup. For projects using the field parameter, see Category:India articles using field parameter.
Lets further take the discussion on the template talk page itself.
Thanks! - Ninney (talk) 08:39, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • What is the use of the FIELD PARAMETER in the template WP India?
    It just generates statement like: This page is supported by the Transport workgroup. or This page is supported by the Railways workgroup. No category of any sort created.
  • Is their a need to use it now?
If yes, then Which one is correct? (|field=Transport or |field=Railways) Refer below example:
  1.
  2.
If no, then their is a need of updating the template WP India on urgent basis.@Kautilya3:, @Ugog Nizdast:, @AshLin:

Thanks! - Ninney (talk) 08:40, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure I follow. You mean |Transport=yes and |Railways=yes, right? I only know that their use is for the various subgroups/subprojects under our main Project. Adding the field is not essential unless you're doing it as part of that specific workgroup. (Personally, I don't do it because it slows me down.) Just like how, in the above example, adding this template would cats like "Stub class India articles of low importance", the field "Transport" would add "Stub class Transport in India articles of low importance". I'm not part of any of these subgroups, and have no idea how active they are. The hierarchy is here Wikipedia:WikiProject India/Workgroups.
Or if you're confused between Transport and Railway, a railway article would be in subproject Transport which is further broken down into sub(sub)project Railways; in short, both. -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 08:53, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
I guess the description of the field parameter in Template:WPINDIA says it all. We can use it if we want to classify articles into areas when there is no workgroup for them. But, when there is an established workgroup already, we should use it. For example, Sitush's new page on Census in India, which easily fits into the history workgroup. Since transport and railways are already workgroups, they don't need to be specified as a "field." Kautilya3 (talk) 09:52, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
If you specify a non-blank value for any one or more of |field= |field1= |field2= |field3=, e.g. |field=government, all that happens is that a short piece of text (like "This pagetype is supported by the government workgroup.") is displayed, and the article is placed in Category:India articles using field parameter. There is no other action, nor is there any validation of the value fed into the parameter. So in theory you could put |field=Anil Kumble and it would display "This pagetype is supported by the Anil Kumble workgroup." But I don't think it's particularly useful, because of the lack of validation and systematic categorisation. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:13, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Listen, if User:Ninney wants to start & maintain a new Workgroup called "Government", along with about twenty thousand dedicated edits & recruiting a dozen others into the group, more power to him! But if he is unwilling to put in that much effort, then a full fledged community consensus is required, followed by recruitment & at least 5000 edits to get the workgroup off to a start! Please remember its not a category & workgroups are NOT to be proliferated just because it seems right! AshLin (talk) 13:26, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

On Wikipedia, Consensus is where several people have discussed a matter and agreed on what should be done about it. I see no discussion above: just a request from you without any indication that other people agree to this addition. Nor do I see a related discussion at Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics. If it was discussed and agreed somewhere else, you did not say where that was. Hi Redrose64. I would to know thoughts about the ongoing discussion regarding the new wikiproject for Udaipur. Do we have the required consensus now? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vishal0soni (talkcontribs) 02:01, 11 September 2015
The discussion has seven participants: Abecedare, AmritasyaPutra, Human3015, Rsrikanth05, Shyamsunder, SpacemanSpiff, Vishal0soni. Of these, it seems that just two besides yourself (AmritasyaPutra and Human3015) are firmly in favour and would join such a project, if it is created. The others have either not indicated their intention to join, or are against the idea. This low level of support is well below the 6–12 active Wikipedians suggested at WP:WPPRO. My own view is that you should pool your efforts with WikiProject Rajasthan, which is of greater scope and so likely to bring in more people. --Redrose64 (talk) 09:09, 11 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Ahecht: (i) why did you use the value 38xpx? It's not valid: for an image 38px tall, you should use x38px; for an image to be 38px wide, use 38px. (ii) why did you set most of the image sizes? It was only the one for Uttar Pradesh that needed adjustment. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:10, 14 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Redrose64: The xpx was a typo in my regex, but I used 38px because it was the current width of the flag image that the majority of the task-forces used as their icon. I set it on all the icons to keep it consistent and because many other icons were illegibly small at 25px high, but feel free to revert me. --Ahecht (TALK

@Redrose64: when he put 38xpx, it seemed to have made a difference. —Skyllfully (talk | contribs) 21:14, 14 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
My comment of 08:31, 14 October 2015 was directed at anybody who had already contributed - primarily Skyllfully but also Paine Ellsworth. You don't need to be able to edit the template to try this out - the normal way of proposing a change to a protected template is to copy the live template to its sandbox (in this case Template:WikiProject India/sandbox), make your changes in that and test them (see WP:TESTCASES), and then make your protected edit request.
38xpx probably seemed to make a difference because it can't be interpreted as a valid value, so the parser tried the best it could. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:32, 14 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Probable updates required in Template for Wikiproject Udaipur

edit

Hello, We have an on-going discussion about working on a dedicated Wikiproject for Udaipur. The project page for WikiProject Udaipur and most other structure is already prepared, but still we are getting some trouble with updates in the statistics. Currently, the values visible in the table are result of manual addition of the relevant categories. When we add some categories manually to article's talk page, they start appearing in the table. But we are not sure about process of automating this. Probably some changes will be required in the WP:India template to make this happen automatically. Can someone please help us out on this. Can Udaipur be added to the template? It was discussed here as a city taskforce for WP India and brought up again at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Udaipur but Category:Udaipur articles by quality remains empty. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 07:22, 27 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

|tf 11={}
|TF_11_LINK          = Wikipedia:WikiProject Udaipur
|TF_11_NAME          = WikiProject Udaipur
|TF_11_IMAGE         = Flag of India.svg
|TF_11_QUALITY       = yes
|tf 11 importance={}
|TF_11_ASSESSMENT_CAT= Udaipur articles
|TF_11_MAIN_CAT      = WikiProject Udaipur articles
|TF_11_HOOK = {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/qualimpintersect

I don't have enough to trust myself to do. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 07:25, 27 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

No, it wouldn't be like that, because does not recognise |tf 11= etc. and you've left unfinished. Also, it's best to sandbox your proposal, at Template:WikiProject India/sandbox, so that it may be tested before deployment, see WP:TESTCASES. --Redrose64 (talk) 10:24, 27 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sir, regarding change of image, I don't think that is controversial to be established a consensus. Alot of other wikiprojects of the page have used a map, state symbol, monument and other random pictures. The picture I want to propose to use is of a pilgrimage and tourist place called The Great Buddha. This picture will serve best because Bihar happens to be the place where Buddha attained enlightenment and Buddhism was born.
