Wildlife of Liberia

edit
  • ... that among the wildlife of Liberia, the rarest mammal may be the Liberian mongoose? Source: "The rarest animal found in Liberia is the Liberian mongoose (Liberiictis kuhni), which was thought to be extinct until a live male was captured in 1989"

5x expanded by Cwmhiraeth (talk). Self-nominated at 06:06, 8 May 2019 (UTC).

  • This article was a mess until you came along and completely transformed it. Definitely expanded 5x and meets that criteria. Hook fact you created is verified to this book source which contains the quote you cited. If they have only found one since it was presumed extinct, then the claim that it may be Liberia's rarest mammal is concrete. The images used all have the correct licenses for usage. The article has no cause for concern with copy vios after checking and is therefore good to go.Rain the 1 07:05, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but the article only says it's the most endangered animal. Yoninah (talk) 22:16, 6 June 2019 (UTC)
  • Don't worry! I doubt you will dispute that it is a mammal, and if it is the rarest animal, it follows that it must be the rarest mammal. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:12, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
  • ?? But I don't see anything about rarest mammal in the article. I only see it and the source for it on this nomination template. Yoninah (talk) 12:53, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
  • The article said "most endangered" (="rare"?), but I have rephrased it now. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:56, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
  • Beautiful job re-writing the article, Cwmhiraeth, and taking it from a tiny stub to a thoughtful, interesting, well-written article! Just a thought, if it's not too late to suggest an alternate hook, I wonder if it would be more interesting to focus on Liberia's extraordinary biodiversity instead of the rare mammal--personally, I think there are more interesting facts in the article than that there's a particularly rare mongoose living in Liberia (maybe that's just me though?) Perhaps something like: ALT 1: ... that Liberia is considered a biodiversity hotspot, with its wildlife including around 225 species of trees, 140 species of mammals, and over 600 species of birds? • Thank you for your suggestion, Philepitta, but in this case I think that focusing on one animal rather than a numbered list of animals has more punch. Thanks for clarifying the hook fact in the article, Cwmhiraeth. Restoring tick per Raintheone's review. Yoninah (talk) 18:28, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
