No prejudice against re-nomination if the GAN passes
Symphony No. 4 (Mahler)
Score cover of Mahler's Fourth Symphony
- ... that Gustav Mahler's Fourth Symphony (score cover pictured) was premiered to boos, anger, and confusion in the audience? Source: La Grange 1973, p. 650 & Steinberg 1995, p. 301
- Reviewed: in progress
- Comment: Hoping that the expansion could be given some leeway since of the 840 original words of prose, many had to be axed before I started writing due to lack of citations. Also hoping this DYK could appear on the 120th anniversary of the premiere (November 25, 2021). GeneralPoxter (talk • contribs) 02:14, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
5x expanded by GeneralPoxter (talk). Self-nominated at 02:14, 30 August 2021 (UTC).
- New enough: - The expansion began on 18 August 2021 and ended on 30 August 2021, thus taking 13 days. DYK requires that the expansion took place within 7 days (WP:DYKRULES #1.b)
- Long enough: - Unfortunately, based on this RFC, the current consensus is that previous length is determined based on the state of the article before expansion "no matter how bad it was (copyvios are an exception), no matter whether you kept any of it and no matter if it were up for deletion". The article thus also fails the required length requirement despite the clear effort (WP:DYKRULES #1.b)

QPQ: - None but fails anyway
Overall: @GeneralPoxter: I'm sorry to say this but unfortunately, at this point, the article fails the requirements of DYK per above. I appreciate all your hard work but past discussions have made it clear that the DYK rules on newness and length are not optional, so I see no way around this. However, since you nominated it for GA (and it looks pretty likely to succeed), you can renominate the article if and when it passes GA review (within 7 days of promotion).
