- Interesting career on good sources, Malayan source accepted AGF (but it should be marked as such), no copyvio obvious. The image is licensed and a good illustration. If not taken, there should be some indication in the wording that this doesn't play in the US. I'd prefer "secretly" in the hook. Yes, I know, the article should avoid that for being too close to the source. - In the article, I'd change these "He says". Imagine five years from now. Rather mention a date/year. I think the translation given in the source above should also be in the article. Also awaiting qpq. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:04, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, about that qpq. Looking into that today. Go to a random day, November 1, pick the first unreviewed entry. Created by Gerda Arendt. Decide I probably shouldn't review the nomination by the person who's reviewing my nomination, that's a bit too much quid pro quo in the quid pro quo. Go to the next entry that day: created by Louis Alain and Gerda Arendt. Wow. Go to the third. Created by Louis Alain and Gerda Arendt. Great Caesar's Ghost, Gerda, it's like you're a DYK monopoly or something! --GRuban (talk) 00:18, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

- Grinning: do you have to point out my bad habit (of nominating last minute or after)? All other noms for 1 November have long been approved I guess, while I placed mine there just yesterday. Blame LouisAlain for the congestion, - I stick to one article per day, but that was one by LA on 6 November and another on 7 November, and all due yesterday. - Actually: I do it opposite and try to find a nom by a reviewer ;) - Now what about the translation of Raja Lawak in the article? And "says"? Now that I looked again: could you give a bit more overview in the lead? And being asked to interview the academy award recipients would also make a fine hook ;)

- Expanded lead, added King of Comedy translation, removed one or two "says" (leaving two, as I can't think of a better way to phrase it, suggestions welcome), but I am not actually that intrigued by him being asked to interview the academy award recipients. I put it in because the article made it out like a big deal, but to me it does not seem that impressive, lots of people interview movie stars. --GRuban (talk) 15:16, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote this, but the hook fact needs an inline cite per WP:DYK#Cited hook. It's a great image, but the hook isn't really lead-worthy. Yoninah (talk) 11:33, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- Moved a cite up to the relevant sentence in the body. You also really don't like the hook? I thought it was pretty hooky. I could rephrase it, I guess, maybe:
- ALT1: "...that Nabil Ahmad (pictured) became a comedian after a friend signed him up for a reality show as a prank?", if you think that's better. Let's call that 1A.
- Or we could go for something completely different:
- ALT2:
"...that Nabil Ahmad (pictured) became a television host because being a comedian was too much pressure?"(2) or - ALT3:
"...that Nabil Ahmad (pictured) was awarded the Best Entertainment Presenter/Host at the Asian Academy Creative Awards?"(3)
- ALT2:
- but, at least to me, neither of those have as much of the element of the unexpected that I see as "hooky". @Gerda Arendt:, do you agree the first one could be more lead-worthy, and do you like any of those better than the first? --GRuban (talk) 14:34, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
