Veronica Veronese, Monna Rosa, Mnemosyne (Rossetti)

edit

Woman's head in Rossetti's painting Veronica Veronese

  • Comment: I think all 6 paintings should go together as a package (the way they started out!), even though only 3 qualify for DYK. Proserpine almost qualifies (started Jan. 27) by somebody I never ran into before - but he did excellent work.

  • So, its nice every now and again to ignore all rules. The article by Smintheus Fellin is outside the 5 day window. I don't know Smintheus Fellin but (s)he seems like a skilful editor who has just gone off in a huff and left the project (thats not the reason I think we should help this editor - this is a 100% arbitrary act towards a new editor). Maybe if we break some rules they will reconsider? At worst we show that we as a project are willing to try and help. So
  • for Proserpine. Length OK, lots of refs, picture evidence of the hook fact. Being as this is breaking the 5 day rule then can someone strike out this nomination or second this proposal? Victuallers (talk) 10:17, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
Note - I'm just checking for plagiarism ....damn! see this site around the sentence about "illicit fruit" - what a pity. If Smintheus Fellin returns then we can show them how to make this acceptable Victuallers (talk) 10:46, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
  • Shame about Smintheus Fellin, but it may not change much here. I wasn't trying to ignore all rules, but maybe I was trying to stretch them. There are commonly articles linked in the hook, other than the bolded DYK articles themselves. What are the limits of this? In general I'd guess the only limits come from the hook length - it's just hard to put in a lot of other relevant links. My feeling here is that all six of these paintings are relevant. I was just amazed the first time I checked out these "sister" paintings and found that 5 of the 6 had images on commons (and the 6th was easy to find). I'd still like all 6 to be included in the hook, but I'm going on too long. Please let me know which of the following is better.
  • Hook length should not be an issue in the original hook; this hook is 198 characters including everything, and in multiple-article nominations, only one of the bold links is counted toward the total character count. You're well within hook length rules, and I also like the notion of including all six paintings, even if only three are bolded. I'm not aware that every unbolded link in a hook needs to be to an article without any issues like close paraphrasing, and the rules don't say anything along those lines. Thanks, so I'll still ask that the original hook be used. Just in case, I'll clean up The Blessed Damozel and Proserpine but it may take a couple of days. The Blessed Damozel's only problem is that it is a short, neglected article. And for full disclosure - Lady Lilith was a DYK in December. Thanks again. Smallbones (talk) 21:59, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
Hi SB - unless the DYK rules have become even tighter then you are allowed to mention any other articles irrespective of their quality. I might be tempted to delete the copyvio text and leave them as stubs if its too tricky. You don't have to fix other articles to mention them Victuallers (talk) 23:33, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
Proserpine (Rossetti painting) should be fine now - I never really did find any major parallelism, but made the text less flowery, added a bit, and reordered a bit. The Blessed Damozel was just short of content - so there never was a problem linking to it - now it's still a bit short, but at least looks like a real article - footnotes, images, poetry and everything. Smallbones (talk) 20:09, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
It stands right where it did when nominated, please use original hook, and Monna Rosa, Mnemosyne, and Veronica Veronese need to be checked - I think they will pass easily, but I'm the nominator. Smallbones (talk) 02:22, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

3 off. All well referenced and layed out. Three articler all have cortrect length. Hook fact is backed up ny photographic evidence. Well done Victuallers (talk) 23:01, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
