Maria Pinto (fashion designer)
edit... that Maria Pinto designed her own prom dress in high school?

- I did not find mention of the prom dress in the The Wall Street Journal citation.—Bagumba (talk) 19:12, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- I can find reference of the prom dress bit on various websites, but none is particularly WP:RS. I think this particular fact originated from a paywalled interview to LA Times, in 2009. -- Zanimum (talk) 20:53, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- Would this be a good DYK for use on March 8th, International Women's Day? Need a speedy re-review? --PFHLai (talk) 10:50, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
- Long enough, new enough, clearly and neutrally written, well referenced, and I found no overly close paraphrasing. I would have said more about the kinds of clothes she designs and her stylistic approaches, and I don't see the need for the refs in the lead para, but no harm. However, the second reference from Forbes does not make clear that it requires clicking on the slideshow arrow to see the support for the points it references. Is there another URL that could be used there? Also the second reference about the Joffrey Ballet, #11, goes to the same place as the first, #3. Fix those and I think it will be good to go and will move it into the holding area for International Women's Day. Yngvadottir (talk) 19:30, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
- Oops, I saw something else. The hook claims she designed her prom dress; the article only says she made it, and the source clearly says it was a Halston design: "I made my own prom dress from a Halston pattern." So proposing:
- ALT1
... that fashion designer Maria Pinto made her own prom dress in high school? - and, which I think I prefer:
- ALT2 ... that Maria Pinto designed the purple sheath dress Michelle Obama wore to give her husband "the fist bump heard 'round the world"? Yngvadottir (talk) 19:39, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
