- New: Created same date as nom Length: 1607 Copyright: Hook:I don't understand what the hook means. Is it saying he wrote songs about songs written by Fritz Grasshoff? Abyssal (talk) 15:47, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- I don't understand your question. Grasshoff didn't write songs, he wrote texts, lyrics, poems, - you name it. Zehm wrote songs. He honoured the writer by naming the group of songs after him. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:42, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- Were the Grasshoffiade songs with music by Zehm but lyrics by Grasshoff or just named after him? I still don't understand the hook. Abyssal (talk) 16:20, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- I may have a language problem. They were both, Grasshoff wrote the lyrics, Zehm wrote the music and named his work after the writer. Most writers do not compose themselves. - In German, the suffix "-iade" is quite common, for example "Schubertiade" (festival of music by Schubert), "Olympiade" (Olympic games). Would you undrstand this better:
- ALT1: ... that composer Friedrich Zehm named four songs for men's choir on lyrics by Fritz Grasshoff Grasshoffiade? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:35, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- Would this alt work? ALT2: "... that Friedrich Zehm composed [a series of] four songs for men's choir that he called Grasshoffiade in honor of Fritz Grasshoff, the author of their lyrics?" Abyssal (talk) 15:11, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, only I am not sure if they are a series, which would imply for me that their content is connected. I don't know if that is true, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:55, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- ALT3: "... that Friedrich Zehm composed four songs for men's choir that he called Grasshoffiade in honor of Fritz Grasshoff, the author of their lyrics?" Does this work? Abyssal (talk) 15:58, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- yes, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:10, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
