Euretaster insignis
edit... that the female striking sea star broods her young and even provides nourishment for them?Source: "These unusual asteroids brood their young in a specialised supradorsal cavity." and "Incredibly, these young are fed by the parent, though in a rather indirect and involuntary manner that has been referred to as “cannibalistic ectoparasitism”. The developing larvae are able to irritate the epidermal tissue, which in turn stimulates the production of a nutrient-rich mucosal secretion that nourishes the young."- ALT1:
... that the young of the striking sea star have been described as “cannibalistic ectoparasites" of their mother?

- @Cwmhiraeth: New enough, long enough, within policy (no copyvios or close paraphrasing detected). Hooks short enough, interesting enough, and supported by a source. QPQ done. But I have one small concern, I would like the lead to be expanded a bit, there are just a couple of lines now, which I feel is too short for an article of that length. KCVelaga (talk) 07:50, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
- @KCVelaga: Thank you for the review. I have expanded the lead section, and have also added an image to the proposed hook. Could you review that too, please. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:37, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for working on the lead, image OK. GTG, ALT0 is interesting than ALT1, I prefer ALT0. KCVelaga (talk) 09:42, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote this. I don't see what's hooky about ALT0. I wanted to promote ALT1, but the descriptive term is not about them, but about the way they receive their nourishment. Could this be reworded, like:
- ALT1a: ... that the young of the striking sea star are nourished in a manner described as "cannibalistic ectoparasitism"? Yoninah (talk) 19:54, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
- I am happy with ALT1a. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 20:01, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
