Bolling

edit

'...he married Mary Tabb Bolling.' Guessing that Bolling is not the commonest name, was she any relation to Edith Bolling, who married President Woodrow Wilson? Valetude (talk) 16:51, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Slaves

edit

Since the question of whether the Category "American slave owners" applies to W.H.F. Lee has come up, I checked for reliable sources to settle the issue. This is a tough one, since there don't seem to be a lot of sources that mention it directly. However, I did find this one, which explicitly refers to "Rooney Lee's slaves." In the 1860 census, Rooney Lee is shown as owning a very large, valuable estate, but I can't access the 1860 slave schedule to get a count on how many slaves he may have had.
