Notability

edit

USA Today, a reliable secondary source, wrote extensively about this event. I've added their summary to the numerous list of citations present in the references section. Dominic (talk) 00:08, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Which is just routine coverage of a sports event, there is nothing to show any historical lasting significance either in that source or the article it's self. Mtking (edits) 00:45, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Just routine coverage of a championship fight in one of the most talent-rich divisions in the UFC with the most hotly contested championship bouts. Just routine coverage of the first time the UFC had been back to Japan in 12 years, since the buyout of the old ownership by Zuffa. Just routine coverage of the fight that catapulted former K1 champion Mark Hunt into the title chase at the ripe old age of 38, framing Act 3 of his Cinderella story run to a championship fight long past his prime. The list goes on.
I understand that you don't like MMA. That's fine. You don't have to like it. Please consider that you don't understand the significance of any of these events because you don't like this sport. Which is fine. But deleting pages because they're not significant to you is zealotry. Dominic (talk) 03:34, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
The Japan Times link is all about the notability of the event and does a pretty good job explaining it. It's the first UFC event in Japan in over a decade, and the first truly major MMA event in Japan in almost 5 years in a country that used to be 80% of the global market for MMA. However it is taking place on february 26. C.m1994 (talk) 21:15, 25 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not done: It did happen on February 26, 2012, in Japan. Since Japan is on the other side of the International Date Line, they're around 16 hours ahead of most US time zones. Because of this, the event occurred on February 26, but aired in the US on February 25. elektrikSHOOS (talk) 05:29, 26 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
