Erroneous Powers Entry
editI deleted references to Triumph possessing powers of mind control and superhuman physical powers on a par with Superman. I get the distinct impression that whomever made those entries is more familiar with the character from his appearance in the JLA story arc. The character only had these powers while the nigh-omniscient thunderbolt was fulfilling his every wish. Normally, Triumph only has electromagnetic abilities.
I added a few of his non listed superpowers that were shown in the Justice League Task Force run, as well I think that both the mind controll and powers on par with superman comment should be put back in. The mind controll can easily be explained as him using his electromagnetic ability to cloud and influence brainwaves. And the Martian manhunter commented to Despro that "should Triumph ever decide for certain that he was cheated out his destiny I worry that no power on earth will be able to contain his rage", and Jonn and Despro are 2 of the most powerful beings in the DC universe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grimlockca (talk • contribs) 09:51, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Powers that were only displayed while possessing the thunderbolt should not be presented as standard abilities. An off-hand, possibly hyperbolic, comment by the Martian Manhunter doesn't provide any specific insight. Certainly in Justice League Task Force, his powers were not portrayed as godlike or vastly superior to other members with energy powers (like Ray and Mystek). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.99.86.28 (talk) 20:22, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Revisions Re: Trivia
editAttempted to merge the trivia heading into the biography with additional information about Triumph's love life. The deletion of the (discouraged) trivia section was reverted. I'd be perfectly happy as a reader if Triumph was brought back and established as homosexual however I do believe this information belongs in his biography proper and that it should be noted that his publishing history indicates a preference for women, which may or may not have been closeted behavior on the character's part.
His actions in his own 4 issue miniseries are absent here including his father being a wheelman for an Hourman villan, named Doctor Cobalt. And that one of the deciding factors in Triumph becoming a hero was a late night visit from Hourman. Also the son of the original Doctor Cobalt going by the same name broke Triumph's back durring a fight and he is essentially paralysed if he is not actively creating a gravity pocket around the damaged vertabre. He also had his own team of adventures that took cases. Each had a call name and a special skill although none had any superhuman ability. Wilma - Tech/survalience, Fang - Pilot, Father Rocko - Feild work/interagation, Eddie X was another member but was fired on the first mission. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grimlockca (talk • contribs) 10:02, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
