Re-organisation

edit

I think Future New Zealand and Christian Democrats should share one page upto the merge with United. And then this page should just reflect the Kiwi Party. Any other thoughts? Mattlore (talk) 22:01, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes this should be done, especially with an election looming. While Kiwi clearly is a spiritual continuation of Future NZ, there's no official inheritance of assets or membership. Kelvinc (talk) 09:43, 8 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge?

edit

Given that the party is now moribund/merged with the Conservative Party, does it merit a seperate page, unless on historical grounds? Calibanu (talk)User Calibanu

It is certainly justified as a separate page. It was a separate party. Incidentally it did not merge with the Conservative Party. The statement that "On 8 February 2012, it requested that the New Zealand Electoral Commission cancel its registration, which rendered it wholly subsumed into the Conservative Party." is wrong. De-registration, and merger with another party, are two entirely different things, though often happen at the same time.Royalcourtier (talk) 05:24, 22 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Elements of the Kiwi Party, including all of the then leadership, joined the Conservatives prior to the 2011 election and the Kiwi Party did not stand under its own name in that election. While there was no official merge, the fact that the leadership joined the Conservatives and advised their membership to support/vote/join with them makes this a defacto and unilateral merge - but not an official merge. Regardless of the subsequent or current state of the Kiwi Party it must remain as an independent article - we don't merge the Liberal Party and Reform Party articles into National Party article just because they merged in 1936, and the same policy applies here.
