editMy sincere thanks goes out to Krobertj for successfully putting in the citations. It kept me up until 2:30 and Krobertj was able to do it in a matter of minutes. Thanks again!! I would hasten to mention that something has changed with the Wikipedia software with regard to doing citations/footnotes. Why do I say that? Back in January of this year, I did minor edits to Mick Taylor and Country Honk here at Wikipedia. I was able to successfully edit in my citations. Doing the same thing as I did back then, the Wikipedia software rejected my attempts at citating. I don't know why, and by reading Krobertj's edits, I am optimistic that I will successfully learn how to successfully citate/footnote.
The substance of the entry
editFor those of you who object to me describing Duane Allman's contribution in this entry as "legendary slide guitar", please consider. This is clearly a POV not just of mine but by Rolling Stone magazine, and countless other authors writing about this subject. The idea that Duane Allman was a legendary slide guitar is not merely my POV, but a generally accepted notion. That does not necessitate a footnote.
At one time, this article made the point that "Tell the Truth" was one of the top 4 songs played by Derek and the Dominos. There was good reason to do so, especially since "Tell the Truth" has been on so many CDs/albums as a concert song. Also, when the article was first written, I had a great deal of difficulty with footnoting so there was a plea not to delete the article. Therefore, the comments below relate to that. - Speaking only for myself, I'm not remotely tempted to delete this article; I think it's substantially sound. That said, I think you really need to read Wikipedia:Verifiability. —Paul A (talk) 03:08, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, Paul. I know what you are getting at. Because, of the guideline not to do your own research, I have decided not to include the Jan Reid interview as a citation; therefore, it doesn't make a lot of sense to make the claim that "Tell the Truth" is one of the top 3 or 4 Derek & the Dominos songs played in concert by Eric Clapton.
