Issues?

edit

Somebody obviously had some "issues" with "Sokkie"... <grin />

Especially when you consider that Afrikaners, and especially the more conservative Afrikaners "Sokkiejoltreffers" would appeal to most, would be most disgusted at the swearing in the main entry.

Agreed. Let's rewrite this article in a more neutral tone.--Francois Botha 11:49, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Weasel words

edit

I added the Weasel words template.

"Folklore has it.." and "It is the opinion of some"... typical weasel phrases.

Also no citation is given for any of these statements.

"Made-up words"

edit

I find this section dubious as such words are surely a feature of many types of popular music, rather than being a particular feature of sokkie music. For example Nicholis Louw's 'Net die een vir my', which contains the quoted "Maia Hee, Maia Hoo" is based on a Romanian song that was enormously popular in Europe and inherited the "made-up words" from that song.

The rest of the article reads like an invidual's personal opinion passed off as wider opinion and is most un-encyclopaedic. Booshank (talk) 14:01, 13 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
