Shermy's Age

edit

While discussion of the relative ages of the various characters could be a separate forum in itself, Shermy did seem to be older than the rest of the kids. In one early strip, one character says, "Shermy's in second grade, let's ask him." CFLeon 03:59, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

That's possible, but the age differences as the strip progressed became negligible. In any of his rare appearances after the 1950s, Shermy was pretty much portrayed as Charlie Brown's contemporary. For example, the sequence (c. 1966) when CB gets called to the principal's office to be put on the safety patrol, Violet and Shermy discuss his getting called from their classroom (impying that they are all the same age) when he returns to their astonishment ("Mercy!" "Well I'll be!"). Rockhopper10r 17:41, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Relationship?

edit

Is Shermy in love with Patty? There's evidence that they were holding hands on the cover of "Love Is Walking Hand In Hand". He's seen with her a lot. [unsigned]

Possible, but the various appearances outside of the strip for things like that weren't very consistant except in basic character. As for associations, perhaps Patty was Shermy's sister? It would explain why they both disappeared about the same time. CFLeon (talk) 23:09, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mad Magazine Parody

edit

Probably Shermy's Last Hurrah was in a parody in Mad Magazine in the late '60s, where he actually was the viewpoint character. He returns to the Peanuts neighborhood, saying that it's been ages since he's moved and meets most of the main cast. CFLeon 03:59, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

If anyone lets me know the original date of this Mad appearance, I'll add a mention of it. CFLeon (talk) 23:02, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
