the picture shows king louis XIV. and is painted by samuel bernard. it hangs in the chateau chenonceaux, where i have seen it with my own eyes. the owner of the castle, a french count, presented it to the king after louis XIV. spent some days in the chateau on a hunting vacation. the king was grateful and sent a portrait of himself by the famous painter hyacinthe rygaud to the count. this rigaud-picture is also to be found in the castle. this informations can be found in a good travel guide on the castle. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.128.243.38 (talk) 14:37, 8 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
