Welcome to the assessment department of the France WikiProject! This department focuses on assessing the quality of Wikipedia's France related articles. While much of the work is done in conjunction with the WP:1.0 program, the article ratings are also used within the project itself to aid in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work.

The ratings are done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WikiProject France}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:France articles by quality and Category:France articles by importance, which serves as the foundation for an automatically generated worklist.

Frequently asked questions

edit
How can I get my article rated?
Please list it in the section for assessment requests below.
Who can assess articles?
Any member of the France WikiProject is free to add or change the rating of an article.
Why didn't the reviewer leave any comments?
Unfortunately, due to the volume of articles that need to be assessed, we are unable to leave detailed comments in most cases. If you have particular questions, you might ask the person who assessed the article; they will usually be happy to provide you with their reasoning.
What if I don't agree with a rating?
You can list it in the section for assessment requests below, and someone will take a look at it. Alternately, you can ask any member of the project to rate the article again.
Aren't the ratings subjective?
Yes, they are, but it's the best system we've been able to devise; if you have a better idea, please don't hesitate to let us know!

If you have any other questions not listed here, please feel free to ask them on the discussion page for this department.

  46. Nicolas_Hulot, fixed a lot of issues with citations, included some things that aren't currently in the French version of the article like actions he has taken while Ecology minister, also added some work with sections which included chronicling early life and work. 47. Protests against Emmanuel Macron hopefully going to create one for Hollande soon, hoping this can be considered a start class article.WolvesS (talk) 12:08, 22 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  48. Augustin-Jean Fresnel: Since early December 2017, this article has been completely rewritten and restructured, massively expanded, and exhaustively checked against a long list of sources. Importance: The topic would certainly be "expected to be included in any print encyclopedia" (several of which are cited), and I submit that the Fresnel lens (especially in lighthouses) and Fresnel's reconstruction of physical optics are "well-known outside of" France. As to whether the topic is "very notable within France", I know of no Frenchman, other than Louis Pasteur, who might have saved more lives. — Gavin R Putland (talk) 10:05, 20 January 2018 (UTC).[reply]

  61. Mont Buet - Wrote a full entry on Mont Buet, focusing on the history of the first ascents and scientific expeditions. There are a few mistakes on the French page which need to be corrected (such as the date of the first ascent, the altitude etc.). Hist Facts (talk) 13:13, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
