Ṣāliḥ ibn Tarīf → Salih ibn Tarif – plain English letters as is the standard. Phonetics as "Ṣ ā ḥ ī" are not used in Arabic titles on Wikipedia Tachfin (talk) 12:19, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- Support, as this is the English language Wikipedia & there's no diacritics in the English alphabet. GoodDay (talk) 15:01, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'm very tempted to strike through the above, GoodDay, please read WP:Article titles Foreign names and anglicization before you cut and paste this ridiculous line into a RM discussion again. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:59, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- You'll do no such thing. The closing administrator decides on which arguments have merit. GoodDay (talk) 02:47, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- Let him do what he wants, IIO. He's only undermining whatever is left of his own credibility on wp by adding these silly arguments to every discussion remotely involving diacritics, regardless of what sources say, as in this discussion, initiated by yourself. - Support per WP:Article titles Foreign names and anglicization; en.wp uses diacritics for Latin-alphabets and transliterates Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:59, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
