Americans buying prescription drugs in Canada?
editThis is currently not in the article, and if the article is meant to be in the "crimes" section, this certainly does not apply. However, I was just wondering whether the term "drug tourism" would also include this phenomenon, as this *does* include drugs (of a different kind, I admit); it involves tourism (at least it crosses the border, and the people doing the crossing are the consumers themselves), and in some sense, the drugs they buy (generic versions of the prescription drug) are actually illegal in U.S. due to patent laws. And, overall, speaking as a John Q. Public, I think this is the most predominant form of "drug tourism" in the North America.
So, should this be included? novakyu (talk) 03:49, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've observed this in Europe too. The prices of some drugs differ vastly even within the eurozone. Some elderly people travel specifically to obtain a yearly supply of medications. RossenV (talk) 16:44, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
- Novakyu and Rossen have not edited wiki in 6 years so I supposed they are gone.
- I just changed the title of this article from drug tourism to recreational drug tourism. All of the content in this article is currently about recreational drug tourism, and browsing the history, it seems like things were always this way. For prescription drugs, check out medical tourism.
Nimbin
editI was reading on the other page that Nimbin, New South Wales is a drug tourist place to visit is that true or are the laws there the same as the rest of Australia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.209.66.212 (talk) 11:40, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
Jamaica
editThat's funny that Jamaica isn't even mentioned in this article, being probably the most visited drug destiny along with Amsterdam. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.217.96.175 (talk) 06:06, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Addiction-related motivation?
editWhile the debate rages on regarding whether cannabis is addictive (though one could argue that people being driven to commit illegal acts or travel great distances in order to consume cannabis recreationally - as opposed to medically - could be seen as supporting one side of the argument), the fact "drugs tourism" in the context of this article does touch on travelling to obtain alcohol (verified addictive) and tobacco (ditto), have any studies been done to look at how much a role - if any - addictions play in driving drugs tourism? 70.72.211.35 (talk) 16:53, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Amsterdam deaths?
editThe Dutch article doesn't make sense naming drugs deaths for substances that are (both) highly illegal, also in the Netherlands. Why is this there without a relation to the rest of the Marijuana related text? 2A02:A458:C30A:1:ACE5:20AF:4F06:1995 (talk) 08:43, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
