Several companies (or their stocks) are mentioned in passing by abbreviated and thus cryptic names. (Were passages taken carelessly from a source in which they were clear from context?) Namely:

St. Paul. Even assuming that means a railroad, it is not unique; multiple railroads were named in part for that city.
Atchison is most likely Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, but I hesitate to link it because that article says it was usually known as "Santa Fe".

What date did this happen? All the article has is, "The panic began when the market crashed during that afternoon in May..." That only narrows it down to 31 days. Jtyroler (talk) 00:07, 29 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
