Internet banking statistics

edit

Maybe someone would like to elaborate on what's world leading with their internet bank? - Done.

A: The number of customers. We are meassured in the number of customers the biggest internet bank in the world. This can be explained through several factors. 1) We are the largest bank in Scandinavia. 2) The ratio of internet users in Scandinavia is high. 3) Labour cost is Scandinavia is high, making automation of bank tasks more profitable. 4) Automation has in Scandinavia traditionaly been done through the Internet, the customers are used to and expect Internet services. In other regions like for instance Spain, automation has been done through very advanced ATMs
Citibank claims to 15 mill. online customers, so maybe Scandinavias largest, or even Europes larges.. but the world.. doubt it. --Sneaking Viper 04:51, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps Nordea are measuring this as a percentage? eg HSBC have 25million customers registered for internet banking, but that is out of 125million customers, so 20% against Nordea's 45%. Ian3055 14:35, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps it's measured in the number of transactions. More online transactions per customer— Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.141.131.112 (talkcontribs) 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Headquarters

edit

Of the photographs of offices, the Finnish one is the only one not depicting a headquarters office. I suppose I could go and take such a photograph myself. I suppose the Finnish headquarters of Nordea is still on Mannerheimintie near the Helsinki Senate Square? JIP | Talk 14:03, 15 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Have updated the fact that Nordea really is a Nordic bank rather than just a Sweden bank, and whilst the HQ is in Stockholm, decision making actually takes places across the main centres of Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo and Helsinki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.99.142.42 (talk) 18:18, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Update leadership

edit

  • What I think should be changed: The Chair (in the Infobox) should be changed from Torbjörn Magnusson to Stephen Hester.
  • Why it should be changed: Sir Stephen has been Chair of Nordea since 2022.

Update to historical performance table

edit

  • What I think should be changed:

The historical performance table under the History tab could be updated to include available public information for the years 2020 to 2023.

Caption text
Year Share Price (€, year-end) Total Assets (€ billion) Return on Equity % Tier 1 Capital Ratio Common Equity Tier capital ratio %, excluding Basel 1 floor
2020 6.67 552 7.1 17.1
2021 10.79 570 11.2 17.1
2022 10.03 595 11.8 16.4
2023 11.23 585 16.9 17.0
  • Why it should be changed: The information in the table presently only runs to 2019.
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

Year-end share price data is taken from the historical share price tool on Nordea's website [1] 'Total assets', 'return on equity' and 'Common Equity Tier ratio %, excluding Basel 1 floor information' are taken from the 'Key figures' page on Nordea's website [2]

Go ahead: I have reviewed these proposed changes and suggest that you go ahead and make the proposed changes to the page. I am not at all convinced this table should exist in the first place but given that it does I see no reason not to update it. Rusalkii (talk) 21:14, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Performance and ownership section

edit

The Performance and ownership section could be updated to reflect publicly available information. Below is a proposal for the text to be included:

  • What I think should be changed:

Nordea’s market capitalisation was €39.6 billion at the end of 2023, making it the fifth largest company in the Nordic region and among the ten largest European financial services groups.[1] Between 2000 – when Nordea was formed by the merger of MeritaNordbanken and Unidanmark – and 2023, the share price of Nordea appreciated by 177%, outperforming the STOXX Europe 600 Banks Index (-50%).[2]

At the end of 2023, Nordea had more than 590,000 shareholders. Nordea’s 10 largest shareholders were:[3]

  1. BlackRock, 5.1%
  2. Cevian Capital, 4.5%
  3. Norges Bank, 4.4%
  4. Nordea-fonden, 4.4%
  5. The Vanguard Group, 3.7%
  6. Swedbank Robur Funds, 2.5%
  7. Alecta Tjänstepension, 2.2%
  8. Fidelity_Investments, 1.5%
  9. Nordea Funds, 1.4%
  10. Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, 1.1%

  • Why it should be changed: The current text relates to 2019, and is therefore outdated.
