Evidence of these other cars

edit

The last section mentions some really cool sounding cars. Does anyone have any Pictures or names because I'd lovew to see them.(86.31.182.119 (talk) 19:52, 5 August 2008 (UTC))Reply

Yes - some resembling the Vanden Plas are the Copel Bonito, Copel Ministar, Lotas Princess and Mook the Tokyo Princess (!). For pictures of these, and the Autech cars and the Verita, try http://www.xs4all.nl/~mjs/March.html . I think Nissan are still making the Verita in Taiwan - I really ought to get round to doing a page about it!

Others - apart from the ones mentioned in the article, there's something of a trend for old styling in Japan. Some are modifications of existing models which just look old:

and most of Mitsuoka's range!

Others (usually separate models) look like something particular:

Some pictures are on Wikipedia (eg the Daihatsu Opti Classic), and most of the rest can be found by looking at Japanese car export websites with a bit of persistence. Try http://www.carsensor.net/catalog to start with (don't let the Russian put you off!). AJHW (talk) 16:35, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. On another note I've only seen viewts with auto boxes. were manual offered? (86.31.188.36 (talk) 23:12, 7 August 2008 (UTC))Reply

Sorry this has been so long. This is what comes of going on holiday - by the time I got back your reply wasn't on my watchlist any more! Anyway -
The car-sensor page about the Viewt says there was a manual from 1995 in the first version, and from March 2008 in the second version. I think automatics are quite popular in Japan - and possibly people who want Viewt-type styling want an auto too! AJHW (talk) 13:25, 7 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
