Continents
editWhy do we need to show the continents for each individual country? There's already a map, and OIC membership has nothing to do with geography. CMD (talk) 12:01, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
Perhaps the "Member state" row should be split into separate rows for easier viewing:
- Flag
- Name of country/state. e.g- Saudi Arabia
- Full name. e.g.- Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- Capital citi/cities
Albania
editAlbania is missing on the map.--Aufseiner (talk) 19:55, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

Palestine?
editPalestine is not a state. The PA was created against international law and UN charter article 80. It has no legitimacy. It is just a terrorist organisation.
Muslim percentage
editIt would probably be helpful for our readers if a sortable column was added showing the Muslim percentage of the population of each member and observer state, along with a source and year for this percentage. This information can usually be found in the Religion section of our article about each state. However there would be quite a bit of work needed to do this, so I probably won't be attempting it myself anytime soon (per WP:NOTCOMPULSORY and WP:BNO, among other reasons).Tlhslobus (talk) 18:14, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- I've now added this column to the Table for Member States; Observer Table to follow later.Tlhslobus (talk) 02:24, 29 January 2018 (UTC) Done.Tlhslobus (talk) 04:01, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

Did Kosovo apply for observer status?
editThe article used to say that Kosovo has applied for observer status, but the sources are rather weak. One of them is this PDF [1] from the Prishtina Institute for Political Studies (which argues that Kosovo shouldn't apply for observer status, but that's not the point). It contains sentences like this: "MFA's statement that Kosovo will apply as an observer state in Organization of Islamic Cooperation..." This sounds like Kosovo's MFA planned to apply for observer status, but hasn't actually done it. The PDF references this [2] press article, which in turn quotes this [3] press release by Kosovo's MFA. (Both sources are in Albanian, no official English translation available.) Google translation: "There are three objectives of the participation of the Kosovo Foreign Minister and the delegation, which he heads and which started its activity on the sidelines of the conference with numerous bilateral meetings: lobbying for further recognition of Kosovo, membership in Interpol and application for the status of the country observers at OBI aimed at advancing Kosovo's international integration." Bing translation: "Three are the participation goals of the Kosovo chief of diplomacy and delegation, who he heads and who began his activity on the sidelines of the conference with numerous bilateral meetings: lobbying for further recognition of Kosovo, membership in Interpol and applying for the observer country's status in the OBI and aiming to advance Kosovo's international integration." ("OBI" is the acronym of the Albanian name of the OIC, "Organizatës së Bashkëpunimit Islamik".) Both translations are a bit unclear: Did Kosovo's delegation actually apply for observer status, or did it just do lobbying? My conclusion at the moment: The sources are unclear, but it looks like Kosovo didn't actually formally apply for observer status. Until we find better sources, we shouldn't include the claim in the article. — Chrisahn (talk) 14:51, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- This October 2018 report [4] by the Prishtina Institute for Political Studies says "...in May 2018 Kosovo has applied as an observer state to OIC...", but its only source for that claim is the somewhat vague MFA press release [5] mentioned above. The February 2020 report [6] doesn't mention the OIC at all. I can't find a press release (or any other evidence) that Kosovo has applied for observer status on the OIC's website, e.g. see Google search site:www.oic-oci.org kosovo observer. — Chrisahn (talk) 15:53, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

inaccurate muslim percentages
editJust looking at the data provided for Turkey (65) it seems that some Muslim population percentages in the tables are inaccurate, and their sources are improperly used.
For Turkey, the current source (IPSOS 2016) suggests that the value is actually 82 which is also wrong since it is over 90 according to almost every other source I could find... Zzz.sleepyface (talk) 07:23, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, i changed it to the 82% a few weeks ago, but have now realized that the source itself is a big outlier compared to other survey results (other surveys can be seen on the Religion in Turkey page).
- It is also only one of two sources thats not from Pew Research Center, the other being the source for Albania, which is an official Albanian statistic from INSTAT. All the other sources from Pew Research Center seem to be dead links.
- I changed Turkeys percentage to 97.8% from another from Pew Research Center source. DankeyKangMan (talk) 17:51, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
