Guardians of the Galaxy

edit

The Guardians of the Galaxy series is confirmed to take place in the universe of Spider-Man 2017 and not Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H..

This was confirmed by Cort Lane, Harrison Wilcox, and Marvel through the Road to Maximum Venom video on their offical Marvel HQ YouTube channel and the Marvel Appendix, which is edited by people who works at Marvel.

This series has too many continuity errors to be canon with Ultimate and Assemble.

The Symbiotes made appearances in GotG and they were aliens, while in Ultimate Spider-Man they were created by Doc Ock, not aliens.

The second season of GotG featured the Guardians first meeting with the Avengers, and the Avengers had no idea who Thanos was, however Ant-Man was a member of the team during this episode. Ant-Man didn't join the Avengers until mid season 2 of Assemble, after they had already met and fought Thanos.

Nova's origin was featured in mid season 2 of GotG, after the Avengers episode. The first season of Assemble is set during season 2 of Ultimate Spider-Man, since the Tri-Carrier from USM S2 was shown. Nova was already operating as a hero by that point and was mentioned and made a cameo appearance in a season 2 episode of Assemble before Ant-Man joined the Avengers, who was a member of the team in GotG before Sam became Nova.

Nova's helmet in USM was originally gold until season 3 of USM where it turned black, but in Guardians it was always black and never gold.

I have added the source to Cort Lane's interview before, but NoobMaster keeps removing it, can someone please do something? Aaa11769 (talk) 08:20, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • "This was confirmed by Cort Lane, Harrison Wilcox" Please provide external links and quote the relevant passages.
  • "the Marvel Appendix, which is edited by people who works at Marvel" The Appendix to the Handbook of the Marvel Universe is owned by Snood/Jeff Christiansen, with articles published and edited by volunteers. Christiansen and several of the others were hired by Marvel as writers and researchers for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, but that does not make the Appendix an official publication of Marvel. The Guardians of the Galaxy from the show appeared in Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. with the cast. Other characters from the other shows also appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy and even referenced the events that happened in the other shows and all these shows have the same artstyle. Harrison Wilcox stated that it's just from his "Perspecitve" only and Cort Lane doesn't even work in the show and a video from Marvel can't be an evidence as it just shows clips from the episodes. Tim Eldred confirms that Guardians of the galaxy and other shows are happening in the Marvel Animated Universe. I talked to person who worked in the story of Marvel's Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers Assemble confirmed that the third season of Guardians of the Galaxy only takes place in the same universe as Marvel's Spider-Man.

Cort Lane: "the most epic conflict in the history of Marvel Animation. We planted the seeds in two seasons of Marvel's Spider-Man and three seasons of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy"[1]

Cort Lane on Twitter: "The events of Guardians of the Galaxy lead into the Spider-Man: Maximum Venom specials.[2]

Harrison Wilcox: "Ultimate Spider-Man, Agents of SMASH, and Seasons 1-4 of Avengers all are in the same continuity. Guardians, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Black Panther’s Quest are all in another continuity."[3] Aaa11769 (talk) 09:55, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Cort lane doesn't even mentions that both shows happens in the same continuity and Harrison Wilcox later mentions that it was just from his "Perspective" only. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NoobMaster01 (talkcontribs) 09:59, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I also want to add that Cort Lane's tweet was liked by two people who works on Marvel's Spider-Man. And that Video is evidence since it is supposed to explain the story for Maximum Venom, if it wasn't accurate Marvel wouldn't have put it up. And it is accurate[4] Aaa11769 (talk) 10:01, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

He was asked if the entire Guardians series is canon to Marvel's Spider-Man, he responded "Yes!" and you know the rest. Aaa11769 (talk) 10:02, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Harrison Wilcox was also asked if Guardians of the Galaxy was ever canon to Ultimate Spider-Man, and said no[5] Aaa11769 (talk) 10:05, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Also the Guardians had different designs and voice actors in their Ultimate Spider-Man appearances. Aaa11769 (talk) 10:12, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Also Harrison Wilcox said in later tweets "My perspective, from working on all scripts and stories was that it was one continuity for all three seasons. It never crossed my mind otherwise."[6] and "I’ve laid out in previous tweets how we who made the show approached it.["https://twitter.com/harrisonwilcox/status/1283066650997125121] while its from his and the others who worked on the shows "perspective" his word carries more weight since he actually worked on the show. Being a tweet liked by people who works on the shows doesn't mean anything. And that video didn't said anything like Guardians of the Galaxy happens in the Marvel's Spider-Man universe and it's just a recap video. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NoobMaster01 (talkcontribs) 12:00, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

He did asked if the entire series is canon to Marvel's Spider-Man and he mentioned that the first two seasons Guardians of the Galaxy happens in both realities.

Their designs got revamped after the show and appeared in Avengers Assemble with the same cast. So, it means that they're the same version.

And Harrison Wilcox stated "My perspective" means that it's just his opinion and not from others who works in the show. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NoobMaster01 (talkcontribs) 12:09, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

No, he said it "could" have not a definite answer, and he said "We who worked on the show." And just because its the same cast and designs does not mean its the same, since the Avengers cast from Assemble along with their designs from said show appears in the season that featured the 2017 Spidey, so that argument doesn't hold much weight. And the recap video does matter, Wilcox confirmed it is accurate, and it shows footage from previous seasons of Guardians along with Marvel's Spider-Man, it is a recap of the symbiotes in that universe, if it wasn't accurate, it wouldn't exist. And them liking the tweet does mean something, wouldn't they correct him if he was wrong? I also want to point out that Cort Lane is involved with Marvel's Spider-Man, and Tim Eldred wasn't involved with GotG. Aaa11769 (talk) 13:02, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
