Regarding comparison with New World Porcupines
editThis edit was rolled back as the New World Porcupines are not related closely to the OW Porcupines. So, the mere lack of "..quills to protect themselves" is not really the distinguishing character between the two. Hence reverting again. prashanthns (talk) 09:43, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Moving content from conservation section to talk page
editHowever, it is facing a high risk of extinction in the wild in the medium-term future as defined by any of the criteria A to D (Appendix ΙΙΙ). The activity in the forest must be monitor frequently by the authorized party especially in the National Park to prevent illegal hunting and logging. Other than that, through wildlife and biodiversity awareness and education campaigns and activities is part of the conservation action we can apply to save the species.
This section seems to disagree with the Vulnerable species classification of IUCN. Such a disagreement (if not backed with sources cannot be in the article, as it would become an opinion. The subsequent sentences are opinions about how conservation and monitoring should be done and do not belong in this article. prashanthns (talk) 05:56, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
