Missing Bougainvillea Bonsai

edit

I'm surprised this was missed out but there are species of bonsai bougainvillea. Might be worth mentioning. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.68.114.12 (talk) 14:10, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Title is a misnomer

edit
This title of this page "List of bonsai species" is a misnomer that perpetuates a myth. There are no such thing as "bonsai species" just as there are no "bonsai seeds. " Rather, bonsai is a technique that can be applied to any tree, shrub, or woody plant. A more correct title would be Plants commonly grown as bonsai since the list incorporates some genera as well as species.

Agree with Memobug, it should be re-titled; I'll do it soon unless anyone objects - MPF 21:25, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

This page could be really really long....

I guess it could be a category too....Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 07:56, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Updated image available

edit

I must admit that I'm surprised that my Acer campestre is on this page, but I'm not going to complain :) Anyway, there's a new shot of the bonsai available at http://flickr.com/photos/ujh/2735265456/ . It has the same Copyright as the old one (so you can use it) and I think it is a better picture. --77.1.9.198 (talk) 12:19, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

New title Idea

edit

Hello, I suggest re-naming this article "Species often used in bonsai" Remilo (talk) 18:19, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

That might be a good idea. I'm starting to think, though, that the list would be better off and more managable if were organized by genus, since for many genera (e.g., Juniperus) virtually any species can be and is used in bonsai, and often there aren't clearly defined species for the varieties most commonly used for bonsai. So maybe "Plants used in bonsai"?--ragesoss (talk) 21:00, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
