Order of cabinets / prime ministers

edit

User:96.54.184.11 has been mass-changing Finnish PM articles to introduce a new numbering system, where each PM is assigned a single, unique number (so that e.g. Cajander would be the 7th PM, since Vennola first held office as the 5th PM). User:Hydrox (undersigned) and User:Marbe166 seem to be opposing this change, siding with the more traditional system where the same person can serve as e.g. 5th and 7th PM (e.g. Vennola), in which case the "Prime Minstership number" is equal to the cabinet number. This is also the current numbering used (status quo).

To avoid any further revert war, if the numbering is to be changed I invite interested editors to discuss this matter here. My opinion from above is clear, I think the numbering should follow the cabinet numbering, since this is the "recognized" numbering (e.g. people might actually recall current cabinet is the 74th, so if an article reads Stubb was the 73rd PM they can realistically place it in time).

It's okay to disagree, but attacking other editors and edit warring obviously does not help. --hydrox (talk) 18:31, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I think it is fine as it is now, one ordinal number for each period they served, regardless of how many cabinets there were in the meantime. The cabinet ordinals are mentioned in the final column, which is fine with me. --Marbe166 (talk) 19:56, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Well, really as long as it's logical and consistent it suits me. Though, wonder what is going on in fi-wiki. They put fi:Jyrki_Katainen as 63rd PM. His cabinet was the 72nd, so doesn't seem to agree with either numbering.. --hydrox (talk) 21:23, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Cabinet counts and prime ministers

edit

It says now that in Finland, prime ministers are counted by the number of cabinets. Why? The source doesn't back this up. There have been 7X cabinets in Finland, but there is only one Matti Vanhanen. It may be useful to know the number of prime ministers the country has had. This would require changes to the table, to focus less on the cabinets and more on the people.
