1974-75 Australian bushfire season

edit

What about the 1974–75 Australian bushfire season ( See link https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/1974%E2%80%9375_Australian_bushfire_season)

With 117 million hectares (290 million acres), i.e. 1,170,000 square kilometres; this would make it number 1? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 175.35.229.220 (talk) 09:12, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

In an article about fires of the 20th century, yes, it would possibly be number 1. This article is about the 21st century. Renerpho (talk) 12:32, 28 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

fires or wild/bushfires?

edit

The article title is "largest fires", but the lead sentence is specifically wildfires/bushfires. The two should agree, even if the largest fires are all bushfires. Mitch Ames (talk) 12:51, 14 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

This article contains totally incorrect information

edit

All information is this article is incorrect. If we are talking about Wildfire seasons, 2019-2022 Australian season is not even close to be the most severe season even in Australia. Years 2001, 2002, 2011 and 2012 burned area was ~ 3 times year 2019 or 2022. In fact season 2019/2022 was one of the least severe seasons in Australia during 2001-2022. Season 1974/1975 was even more severe.

All other entries have the same problems. The whole article should be deleted, since "wildfire season" in context of the whole world is meaningless metric. 86.115.220.153 (talk) 13:01, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please provide sources for the first paragraph. Upon checking the sources provided in the article (or the references in the Wikipedia articles that are linked here in place of sources), your claim doesn't appear to hold. As for the second paragraph, check out Wikipedia:Guide to deletion. Renerpho (talk) 00:50, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

2023-24 Australian Bushfire Season

edit

Apparently 1.4 million square kilometers burned, which far surpasses anything in the current table: - https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/2023%E2%80%9324_Australian_bushfire_season 2.99.95.219 (talk) 12:36, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
