List of Elstree Studios productions → List of films and television shows shot at Elstree Studios – This is to clarify that "Elstree Studios" is the location where filming took place, not the name of a production company. This agrees with the stated purpose of this list within the article, and is in line with other articles in Category:Lists of films by shooting location. Dr Greg talk 19:21, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

Needs updating
editThe scope of this list has recently been changed. It originally referred to all of the studios in Borehamwood, but now refers only to the Shenley Road studios. I support this change, but it does mean that the list now needs pruning to remove the minority of productions that were shot at studios other than the Shenley Road studios. This may take some effort, any of the Borehamwood studios might be described in a source as "Elstree Studios", so further research may be necessary to decide which studio was intended.
The Shenley Road studios have used the following names over the years:
- Elstree Studios (since late 2000s) (this name is ambiguous, so can't be relied on without further evidence)
- Elstree Film Studios (since mid-2000s)
- Elstree Film and TV Studios (since mid-1990s)
- Goldcrest Elstree Studios (late 80s to early 90s)
- Cannon Elstree Studios (mid 80s)
- Thorn-EMI Elstree Studios (early 80s)
- EMI-Elstree Studios (1970s & 1980s)
- EMI-MGM Studios (early 1970s)
- Associated British Studios (late 1930s to 1970)
- Associated British Pictures Studios (late 1930s to 1970)
- ABPC Studios (late 1930s to 1970)
- British International Pictures Studios (1920s & 30s)
- BIP Studios (1920s & 30s)
- British National Pictures Studios (1920s) (but not British National Studios 1940s & 50s)
The following names do not refer to the Shenley Road studios:
- BBC Elstree Centre/Studios (since mid 80s)
- ATV Elstree Centre/Studios (60s to mid 80s)
- Elstree Centre (since 1960s)
- British National (40s & 50s) (but not British National Pictures 1920s)
- Rock (late 30s)
- Blattner (late 1920s to early 30s)
- Ideal (1910s to mid 20s)
- Neptune (1910s)
- Clarendon Road (location rather than name, any time)
- Eldon Avenue (location rather than name, from about 1940s onwards)
- MGM-British (mid 40s to 1970) (but not EMI-MGM after 1970)
- New Elstree (mid 50s to early 60s)
- Danziger (mid 50s to early 60s)
- Imperial (early to mid 1930s)
- British and Dominions (early to mid 1930s)
- Gate (1950s)
- M.P. (1937)
- J.H. (mid 30s)
- Whitehall (late 1920s)
- Station Road (location rather than name, late 1920s to 50s)
A mention of "BBC Studioworks" for recent productions is also ambiguous, as they now use both BBC Elstree (Stage D) and Elstree Film Studios (numbered stages & George Lucas Stage). -- Dr Greg talk 14:47, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
