Remove images?
editThis discussion resulted in the removal of images from the similar List of Kamala Harris 2024 presidential campaign endorsements. Shall we remove the images from here, too? ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:52, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- Yes swinquest (talk) 17:52, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
- Mild Support — The images take up space in an already crowded article. If readers wish to view an image, they have the option to click on a wikilink, which will often be available and will typically bring them to an image.
- Trackerwannabe (talk) 18:03, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
- Strongly Oppose I think this article is good with the pictures. I think the pictures in this article do not need to be removed. In the article "List of Joe Biden 2024 presidential campaign endorsements", the article is also presented with pictures. So I think it does not need to be changed and removed. - I'm not sure precedent is our best guide here. But, if we're going to look to other articles for guidance, I think it would be better to look at their Talk pages, to see what arguments were made for and against the inclusion of photos. While I didn't find much, here is what I managed to find.
- In support:
- "Providing headshots also gives viewers a visual snapshot of the endorsements that is much easier to read than the lengthy text list"
- In opposition:
- "[A]dding headshots to these sections takes up too much space, especially on mobile, and often results in scrolling several times before actually getting to the content."
- "The names and relevant offices seem like they would be sufficient."
- Photos unnecessary
- Comments/suggestions:
- "I don't at all agree to these continuity between pages arguments. Yes, obviously we want to have somewhat the same format, but every page is different and attempting to fit every single endorsement page into the same mold is unrealistic and absurd."
- "Let's do what we did for the Biden and Trump pages and put notable headshots on the side."
- "We should probably come up with some sort of consensus on which individuals should receive headshots."
- "[T]here seems to be no rhyme or reason as to which portraits are included and which are not."
- "[I]t would make a lot more sense if those pictures reflected the most famous or most surprising endorsements."
- "I don't see how making any sort of arbitrary cutoff is useful or necessary as it inadvertently creates a bias to the reader that only those who have their headshots are actually important, leading to questions as to why we have the others listed."
- For what it's worth, here is a list of some endorsement articles, and their talk pages I perused seeking relevant comments. Most of the talk pages (with this notable exception, which had some) had no discussion on the topic.

- yes, they are irrelevant and seemingly random 2600:1007:B03D:AB93:B6:D587:5029:6D36 (talk) 22:55, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
Tom MacDonald endorsement?
editIt's clear that Tom MacDonald supports Donald Trump from his personal account. LittleContributes (talk) 21:21, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
- You're not wrong but Wikipedia:Political endorsements state that you cannot use a self published source. Christhegeek517 (talk) 22:20, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
- I don't understand why an article should declare one's endorsement rather than the person themselves. LittleContributes (talk) 00:37, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- Because it establishes notability. If the person is notable and should be added to the article, then a news outlet will probably have republished the endorsement. If not, they probably aren’t notable enough. Haroldwinstanley (talk) 13:34, 27 August 2024 (UTC)

652kb long page
editthis page is increasingly long. should we have a page for non-politicians endorsing Donald Trump's 2024 campaign? or probably even a list of senators and representatives? -- 95.24.25.87 (talk) 18:45, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- Just seen this. I’m one of the editors on the Harris page of endorsements, and we have maybe 100 less bytes. It doesn’t seem to be an issue yet, but I would recommend removing pictures. We don’t have any for the simple reason that they become misaligned with the actual endorsement, and obviously take up a lot of space. Haroldwinstanley (talk) 13:32, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
Is TASS considered a reliable source?
editWhile I understand that tass means truth in Russian, I have long considered TASS to be a propaganda arm of the (then) Soviet Union. I continue to make a similar assumption regarding their role within modern-day Russia. Thus, I was surprised to see a couple of citations pointing to articles on their site.
Perhaps I am mistaken, but it seems that the most recent discussion (May - June 2022) on this matter resulted in a general consensus that TASS was not considered to be a reliable source. So, unless I'm missing something, might it not make sense to replace references to TASS articles with ones published by more reliable sources? Trackerwannabe (talk) 18:37, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- >While I understand that tass means truth in Russian
- it does not. truth in russian is "pravda", "tass" isn't a word. 69.162.253.196 (talk) 23:26, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- I stand corrected. However my question regarding the use of TASS as a/n (un?)reliable source remains.
- Trackerwannabe (talk) 02:17, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- Seeing no discussion (save for being schooled in Russian), I added {{unreliable source?}} to TASS citations.

What criteria are being used to choose which endorsers to have images?
editThere appear to be many hundreds of (possibly over 1,000) endorsers listed in this article. Of those, about 150 have associated images, with more being added on a weekly (if not daily) basis.
What criteria are being used in choosing which individuals are to have images in this article? (I hope the objective not to have an image for every endorser for which we can find an usable image.) Trackerwannabe (talk) 19:03, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Aisrotkev8000 — As you seem to be the editor responsible for adding most of the recent images, I would appreciate it if you would weigh in here. Thanks.
- Trackerwannabe (talk) 15:20, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- I originally wanted to add some pictures to make this article look more interesting. I also changed some pictures to align with the size of each person's head. Because I think it makes this article look neater. Aisrotkev8000 (talk) 08:23, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Does supporting/endorsing JD Vance as Vice Presidential nominee count as a Trump Endorsement?
editI looked at the sources for Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey however it only mentions that they view positively for Trump's appointing JD Vance and nothing mentions with a direct endorsement for Trump 2024 campaign. I also looked externally and what I only found is Joe Hockey praising Trump but again not a direct endorsement for the campaign. https://www.skynews.com.au/opinion/andrew-bolt/donald-trump-does-care-about-people-joe-hockey/video/33fb08601d394706a5309827bd6a8a0f (While I aware Tony Abbott had directly endorsed Trump 2016 and 2020)
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made similar statements in supporting Trump's appointing JD Vance but not a direct endorsement for Trump's 2024 campign https://www.reuters.com/world/russia-ready-work-with-any-us-leader-says-lavrov-2024-07-17/ yet he is not listed. Mhaot (talk) 09:18, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- In my opinion. Supporting/endorsing a certain vice presidential candidate is the same as supporting/endorsing a certain presidential candidate. Why is that? Because of course if people hate a certain presidential candidate, they will never want to support/endorse a certain vice presidential candidate. Aisrotkev8000 (talk) 18:11, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
Relevance
editThis is not an encyclopedia-worthy article. It is now the fourth largest Wikipedia article in history, with over 750,000 bytes, and the same applies to the List of Kamala Harris 2024 presidential campaign endorsements with over 850,000 bytes. Regardless of where you stand politically, you must admit these pages themselves serve as endorsements of the two political campaigns, thus they are NOT non-biased encyclopedic articles. It is time for Wikipedia to limit or delete all such articles. NoWikiNoLife (talk) 00:16, 28 September 2024 (UTC)

NELK Boys
editHow can we add the NELK Boys in here? Someone removed the previous work citing not notable. If we do it individually or as a group? WikiFili1898 (talk) 03:20, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- In my opinion, if you want to add any information, you can add as much as you like as long as it is accompanied by a source from the news. Then try if the source of the news shows that the person supports the candidate. Try not to add a source from the news that only shows the opinion of the news maker.
