editWhat does the name of the city mean? Has it anything to do with the city of Burgas in Bulgaria? hubertgui
- Or connections with Arab Burj "Citadel" and German "Burg"? or even the germanically influenced town of Burgos, Spain?
- According to Lüleburgaz, the city was famous for its production of tobacco pipes and is named after the mouthpiece of a pipe, which in Turkish is called lüle. The burgaz part looks like it should have the same origin as the name of the Bulgarian city of Burgas, in Turkish Burgaz, or the island of Burgazada, which in all these cases is most likely Greek πύργος "tower". --Florian Blaschke (talk) 01:42, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
