Most links I have looked at, identify Harajuku as a fashion style in her context, rather than a district of Japan. -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick. (talk) 02:15, 31 July 2011 (UTC) -- It appears that was completely incorrect. She is from Harujuku district. It is just that she exemplifies the cultural flavor of that area and its unique sense of style. So half of both. -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick. (talk) 03:27, 31 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

There is a lot of talk on private blogs that she a public image as being the Lady Gaga of Japan and that her face is incredibly common on Japanese youth culture magazines. But I haven't found a decent link to either fact yet in the English language. -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick. (talk) 02:46, 31 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Gwen Stefani

edit

She says in this interview that Gwen Stefani is her favorite artist and her biggest inspiration. It says her favorite song of hers is "Harajuku Girls". Not sure if this should be included in the article. -ErickAutumn (talk) 06:14, 8 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

All-things-Kyari

edit

this article reads like a News Release... in lieu of tagging it as such, i'll be taking it on myself in a series of edits over the next few days... i'm noticing right off the bat that some existing text out-does their source material; among other things such as plenty of decidedly unencyclopedic information... don't get me wrong & don't worry, i'll be fair, because i think she's as adorable as anyone else may think, but this is neither her blog nor fan club = toning it down a notch folks... "eyemazing": the source doesn't say anything about her "establishing herself as a business woman"… also, it cites the product as "Harajuku Doll", NOT "Eyemazing x Kyari etc"; that's just the typical catchcopy in Japan for promoting collaborations. next/high on my list: intro; too much information, some full articles aren7t that long. more to do... we'll meet again. Japanglish (talk) 12:17, 31 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

case-in-point: just revised one particularly glaring example of overkill: admission prices for a so-called "museum exhibition"... really? anyway, i trimmed the fat there in March/April 2013 and in the process referenced the provided sources, BUT: those sources are either dead ends leading nowhere OR they're to Kyari sites which are not only considered unreliable as source material but don't even provide much in the way of information OR proof... at the very least, it doesn't even say anything about being in a "museum" except that it's part of the exhibition TITLE; Roppongi HIlls has a museum, but that's the MORI museum, and that name doesn't appear in the one accessible source provided... all of this makes me question other source material which i have yet to explore... i'll be back. Japanglish (talk) 13:12, 31 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Please do verify, hack and slash! Thank you :-) - David Gerard (talk) 15:14, 31 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
down-sized the intro keeping only the necessities of an intro; let interested readers read-on for more! hey, i know Kyari is all that BUT: somebody needs to pay some attention to sourcing the specifics of claims made here (and sourcing in-general)! "signature song"? nothing… Elle magazine? i did a quick search at Elle's website myself: nothing… i didn't wanna delete, so i just tagged them for "citations"… somebody else: dozo yoroshiku~ also: order of "model, blogger and recording artist"; left as-is but shouldn't recording artist be first? meanwhile i'll continue trimming the fat a little at a time~ Japanglish (talk) 12:56, 1 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

consensus for NAME within article

edit

i've been keeping with the pre-existing "Pamyu" in my edits, BUT... should it (or not) be "Pamyu Pamyu" as a "last name" if you wanna consider it as such, OR, should it instead be simply "Kyari"? most media blurbs about her seem to be one-paragraph verifications of her existence which merely mention her name once in its entirety because thats all thats required. japanese sources seem to lean toward simply "Kyari"... let's reach consensus on that and edit accordingly! continuing wikification a bit at a time. Japanglish (talk) 16:11, 4 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

i like using just her first name like this mainstream article does. Article also says Kyary is closest to "Carrie" an American name which her classmates called her and, she added the “Pamyu Pamyu” part just because she thought it sounded good.Raquel Baranow (talk) 18:05, 4 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
all the explanations about the origin of her name are understood and already in the article... my question is about how she should be referred to within the article itself... example 1(current): "Pamyu is the bees knees." example 2: "Pamyu Pamyu is the bees knees." example 3: "Kyari is the bees knees." it's my understanding that wikipedia refers to subjects by their last name, but in this case would that be ONE "Pamyu" or both "Pamyu Pamyu"? OR, seeing as none of the above are her actual names anyway, and giving some consideration to SOUND, should we just go with "Kyari"? it just SOUNDs pretty silly to me, to say "Pamyu Pamyu did this and that and the other thing" and refer to her in that way so many times within the article... "Kyari" seems to me to READ better, but i wouldn't make a change like that on my own without hearing other opinions first =anybody else care to weigh in? Japanglish (talk) 13:17, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
I asked over at The Teahouse what we should do and Anne said to comply with what mainstream media does with her name. She suggested renaming the article and redirecting but I'm thinking keeping the title the same and mentioning in the first paragraph that most? mainstream articles refer to her as "Kyary" and then provide a few citations. Raquel Baranow (talk) 15:39, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Just noticed that her Facebook Page refers to her as "KPP." Raquel Baranow (talk) 15:55, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Following here from the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biographies#Subsequent use (also know by the shortcuts WP:SURNAME and WP:LASTNAME). I don't know that it decides the issue one way or the other, but it lends support for using a first name where a last name isn't know or doesn't work well given the context. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:06, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • no need to change the title of the article: "Kyari Pamyu Pamyu" is her full stage name... now, seeing as the press switch to simply "Kyari" casually within articles, it seems thats how it ought to be handled here; i haven't found any instances of her being referred to as "Pamyu" OR "Pamyu Pamyu"... the "Snoop Dogg" article goes to "Snoop" within the article, not "Dogg"... i doubt she'd be switching to Kyari-only at any point; the cuteness of "Pamyu Pamyu" seems to be a part of her charm (gimmick?), and: the article can be changed if-&-when she did officially shorten it... so: i'll get to changing all "Pamyu"s to "Kyari"s in a future edit unless someone else would like to go ahead and tend to it; gotta run at the moment~ Japanglish (talk) 14:32, 6 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Blog sourcing

edit

the more i go through this article, the more mess i continue to find: many segments were obviously added by people lacking English skills, AND: lacking basic writing skills! some things seem to have been added without having read the article first, meaning: repetitious mumbo jumbo throughout... i removed some but theres more... also noticed: many sources are fan-ish blog sites; a wikipedia no-no, no? on top of that, direct copy-paste chunks of already-poor writing! "LondonSempai" is the worst offender: i don't wanna be the one to immediately delete not only the source but the text altogether, so for now i'll just make note of it here BUT, if its kept much longer i'll eventually pull it myself! ive taken this on as a pet project & i'll keep coming back to it in my free time, BUT Little-Miss-Pamyu-Pamyu better provide me with some free tickets or something because even though i have at least a rubberneck interest in her i really don't care enough to be spending this much of my free time! maybe i do care? Best wishes to Kyary. Japanglish (talk) 11:38, 7 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Lead sentence: NAME order

edit

the first of my recent edits to this article was the ordering of the birth-name/stage-name... i set it at "'Kyari', born as 'whatever'"... i did this based on many other articles dealing with stage names, but... is there a format to be followed here too?? beCAUASE, my name-order edit has been reverted... i won't undo it but, for now i at least removed the "better" from "better known as" in that editors revert, beCAUSE, she not "known" at ALL as (whatever birth name it is which now appears; i can't even remember); she's ONLY "known" as Kyari Pamyu Pamyu... were it Lady Gaga, i could understand the revert, somewhat (depending on standard formats), but, Kyari has a long way to go until she can lock her page as Gaga's, or else i may've changed the ordering there too, because Gaga isn't widely known by "Gilato" or whatever either! Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

RGB single?

edit

The box at the end af the article lists "RGB" (a CAPSULE song) as a non-album single. As far as I can tell, it was a song she performed live in some of her concerts, but has never been released as a single. Can someone confirm this? Gheiratina (Touch~^) 17:50, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

I am surprised to find out there is no info about Kyary Pamyu Pamyu starring in an advertisement for Nintendo 3DS console with changeable plates (so called kisekae plates). Did someone forget about this?

RecoChoku

edit

I'm starting this topic to avoid an edit war ([1]) with GimmeChoco44 over the correct romanization of "レコチョク". First of all, the article currently uses "Rekochoku" but the official source refers to it as "RecoChoku" ([2]). The other disagreement point is the capitalization of the second "C"; GimmeChoco44 argues it violates MOS:JAPAN and MOS:CAPS. However, it's in line with MOS:TM examples like LittleBigPlanet or PlayStation. Cheers, Gabriel Yuji (talk) 03:20, 17 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

This is a good point. However, I'm looking for an official company-based source that shows that capitalization style for this brand. The official website seems to use katakana exclusively. The Twitter and Facebook accounts also use katakana. Do you have a direct source that shows the stylized caps?--GimmeChoco44 (talk) 15:00, 17 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
If you look at the below of any page of the official site, you'll see "©RecoChoku Co.,Ltd.". On the link I've mentioned above, it's also immediately after "company name" (会社名): " 株式会社レコチョク (RecoChoku Co.,Ltd.)". Gabriel Yuji (talk) 01:39, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, the copyright line shows the branding/stylized caps. I'll concede the point. Thank you. --GimmeChoco44 (talk) 01:59, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Real Name

edit

The article lists Kimiko Takemura as being her real name, but I can't find any sources of this being the case, all I can find is Kiriko. Searching "Kiriko Takemura" also redirects here, so is Kimiko an error? KawaiiManiac (talk) 21:25, 16 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
