No of passengers

edit

I've seen a lot of varied accounts of number of passengers. For example, Simple flying says 173 (162 pax + 11 crew) (see https://simpleflying.com/korean-air-airbus-a330-crash-lands-philippines/#update-2022-10-23-19-45-est-by-sumit-singh), while ASN says 176 (165 pax + 11 crew) (see https://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=20221023-0). Should we edit the passengers and crew section to TBC until the official statement is released? SBS6577P (talk) 04:09, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I read through several articles internationally about the incident, mainly they hinted 162 passengers and 11 crew. 165 passengers and 11 crew seems different and not really mentioned more in several medias, we should likely reinstate it to 173 instead (in total). Air Algerie 5017 accident has occured in 2014. It has been confirmed that there were 110 passengers and 6 crew all of whom perished. I don't know why did you change that info 82.160.149.103 (talk) 20:13, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Okay...and how is that related to this KE631 accident? If you want to ask a question on another crash, do it on the user talk page or the talk page of that article, not here... SBS6577P (talk) 23:47, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Korean Air Flight KE631Korean Air Flight 631 – Per WP:AVINAME, should not include IATA code. Current title (with KE631) can be included as a redirect. Not sure why the talk page title is different from the main wikipedia article, but my request is moving to without the IATA code, thus keep talk page title as it is. Notability

edit

@SBS6577P, Mastodon554, and Dora the Axe-plorer: Pinging few editors to discuss about the notability of this article. In my opinion, this accident is quite notable as it resulted in hull loss of the aircraft, and the accident is well covered by the media. We have to wait if this covers WP:LASTING or not, but I think the notability matter should be settled before more work is poured in the article. ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 16:11, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Technically this is a hull loss of the plane, so I think the criteria for WP:AIRCRASH is met. Also at least 15 different reliable news sources of at least 4 different languages such as Al Jazeera (English)[1], 8world (Chinese)[2], and HLN (Dutch)[3], just to name a few, have covered the accident quite extensively, so it meets WP:GNG and WP:COVERAGE in my opinion too. It is a definite hull loss of the plane and I have initially alluded several independent sources likely Bloomberg, Manila Bulletin, and Reuters. And yes, WP:GNG is already met. I've tried to add in articles in the incident followingly from the media, in order WP:AIRCRASH is initially met and covering the accident primarily.
